I agree, I enjoyed the spate of warm weather while it lasted... on the other hand, the dogs are far preferring the cooler climes.

It's the Great British Summer, just like it was in the Good Old Days. Daily rain will start when the schools break up for the summer holidays!!

Schools break up for the summer holidays?? Haven't they first got to go back to school to do that?
We had a cold wet and windy weekend, but the rain was very welcome. It is actually fairly normal around now - the Dutch call it sheep shearers cold. A good time to shear the sheep so they don't get sunburned!
A few warmish days, a few hottish days and then a few thunderstorms seems to be our week ahead.
Long term forecast is for a super hot summer with occasionaly downpours.
Not good. Warm weather yes please, hot weather no thanks. Hopefully our newly laid wadi and other water management stuff will cope with the downpours.
We were using a bucket to collect shower water last week it was so dry here. The weekend rain has help a little but nowhere near enough.
Climate change in action.

My son's fence blew down in the recent strong winds and, due to interesting weather and covid lock down, has taken 4 attempts and sessions to get a new one installed.
We did it ourselves, he lives on a hill top with stunning views and wind...
...the weather type...
...that brings in interesting weather, soon each attempt 'rain stopped play'!
Finaly got it sorted yesterday and enjoyed a celebratary coffee enjoying the view.

Most people here don't have wooden fences because of their tendency to end up in the next town in a strong breeze, along with their roof tiles.
We are going to start on some decking today. We need a new step out of the house, has to be wood, like the house, so we are extending it a bit and making a small deck.
Never made a deck before so this could be interesting...

As a matter of interest. how long do you leave freshly chopped trees before you can burn them? I took some conifers down earlier this year and was wondering whether or not to take them to the tip or save them for log burners.

Leave your conifers for a while longer or they will spit and be resinous.
Contemplating getting rid of an ash tree in the front garden. Sadly we don't have a woodburner.

Wasn't there something about banning the use of woodburners in the UK?
