No dandelion, daisy, buttercup or clover flowers now - what are the bees going to do??

They spend all theirtime in the gardens

Which is what we've all been doing.

The sawing and hammering have resulted in a planter made of fence poles

Another home for daisies and dandelions

More rain tomorrow so no gardening for me.

Mention of bees and sawing and hammering: Mrs. wozhere bought a very pretty, woven cane 'bee hotel' filled with dozens of short lengths of bamboo cane. It had a hook to hang it where the solitary bees might find it. So I hung it up.

Then it peed it down with rain for the last few days and the insides of it became quite wet and not a place where any bee would go to lay its eggs! I have therefore made a bespoke bee hotel to house and protect the first bee hotel from the rain and damp.

The glue is still drying so I will post before and after images in due course.

We had a bee hotel. The woodpecker thought it was a takeaway! Damaged it beyond repair sadly.
We'll get another one sometime and cage it.

Strange day, Whatsapp from Honesty and she's making scrubs for the NHS, Mrs HG has been stone carving while I've made some focaccia..

...just waiting for the pasta dough to be ready to role out and then it's lasagne making time..

...it sounds like a busy day all round but...
Cheers, HG

Sounds a busy day. You've found some flour and yeast then?

I've been dry stone walling. Using a load of old broken paving slabs. Murder on the knees.

There is a 250 year old watermill down the road (there has been one there since Domesday) which has never been so busy grinding out flour! You cannot now just turn up and buy the stuff but they supply a local farm shop which takes online orders, and leaves it out for collection at a pre-arranged time. The mill’s commercial orders are now on a 6-7 week delivery time despite the restaurants being closed. Also the village bakery said if we want some flour they will bag some up for us, being regular customers, so again it is the local businesses that are being resourceful where the supermarkets fail.

Incidentally the mill is a great site for photos on open days, thank goodness for Pentax dust-resistant kit as the flour dust gets everywhere! Our photo club had an evening visit planned this summer but that of course is on hold.

I kindof thort it wudof been!

How teachers can hold their heads up and claim to do a good job is beyond me these days. Some of the spelling and grammar you encounter is abysmal.

Grocer's apostrophe isn't a new phenomenom. Didn't you go up the apple's and pear's to the land of dream's every night? (Which is what I'm about to do now...)
