Changed them this morning. Last night we had a 90 minute meeting with Sue's brother and his wife via video link and it worked quite well. We had a relaxed catch up and we can happily do that again.
This morning I've been looking at Zoom for video conferencing and the laptop is more convenient to use than the iPad, but both are perfectly usable.
We can allo feel better connected to the rest of humanity with technology to help. This forum included! I'd miss you guys without it!

I'm doing an online course on hairdressing, how hard can it be? It's Gill's birthday next month and I offered to do hers as a treat. Her reply is unprintable.

Zoom - seems to work well in most cases, but (from my own experience on a Win 10 Pro m/c this week!) sometimes it does not!
In particular, if you can hear the other person but they cannot hear you, or vice-versa, you might think there is something wrong with your PC itself, and spend a lot of time/hair-pulling trying to find and fix the problem without success
However, "by chance" I found that this can be caused by the settings within Zoom itself - thus if you do experience this problem then this worked for me:
- with ZOOM up and running with you logged into a meeting (even if you are the only one there), and the webcam image of yourself on your screen, look below that to the "command" line and to the "up" arrow next to the microphone icon
- click that "up" arrow to show the menu of options settings, and then select "Same as System" for both the microphone and the speakers
- result: audio is now going "both ways" to another m/c I "invited" to my meeting, and so my ongoing problems were finally solved with (in "desperation" mode!) a few simple clicks
PS: none of the many online searches for solving the problem that I did pointed to this solution

K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

.....But since then, the engineers at Zoom have been tearing their hair out to find why nobody can mute their audio!

Police are saying today that with force members going off with Coronavirus they will scale down investigations and ignore low category crimes. Apparently theft is categorised as such which is something we have suspected for years but now there is a new excuse not to bother. I guess the fuzz will prioritise roadside checks instead to make sure we aren’t sneaking out for a country walk.

Prioritise crimes where people have been/would be hurt? Or where lorries full of medical supplies are disappearing? Or where kids are being enticed to get involved in drugs? Or depraved adults are doing despicable things to children? Doesn't seem daft to me.
Anyway, perhaps if we each put as much effort into preventing theft as we are currently doing to prevent the virus getting us, there might not be so much theft to investigate. Come to think of it, at the moment there ain't going to be much theft from empty houses 'cos not many houses are empty and strangers are conspicuous.
Just a thought, folks, just a thought...

I saw a couple of them walking down the high street, they were walking that closely together they could have been hand in hand. Perhaps they believe they're immune.
