Another pointless thread

Daughter and family won't be visiting at Easter now. She's a GP. A bit busy at the moment and expecting it to get even busier. Got to sympathise with those in the front line trying to keep things going. Don't go to a surgery unless it's a matter of life and death, you're likely to get savaged by a specially trained receptionist.

Sorry you won't get to see your daughter Steve. I hoe she remains healthy and doesn't get too stressed by iit all.
My son's girlfriend is a nurse at a major university hosptial. She is not allowed to mix with anyone outside work, so he won't be seeing her for a while.
Surprise party for my brother is fast vanishing over the horizon. The last chance for him to see us before he goes blind, and he probably won't get it.

Heard about this locally with a few surgeries here where people have walked in and said they've got it and then everyone there is then affected. You have to wonder what goes through these peoples mind. Hope your daughter is well

And then there's the "bog roll story" - sorry it's on another forum but truly "amusing" (except if you have run out of "toilet tissue") to which I have just added my "three sheets worth"
K-3 II, K-3 and a K-70 from SRS (having now relegated the K-30 /"K-50" to a backup body), & some Sigma and Pentax lenses (and a lot of old 35mm gear!)

Bit late - that was posted about 1/2 way through that linked thread!

None in Tesco last Tuesday evening, but it was on the list 'cos we were getting low. I mentioned to a shelf-stacker how ridiculous it was and normal shoppers like me would have to suffer for the silliness of the rest. "Never mind", says I, "I've used newspaper in Russia and come to no harm". "People strip the shelves as soon as we put things out", she says, "But I think you're in luck. I think we've just had a delivery, would you like some?". "Please, if that's OK", says I. So she went backstage and came back with a couple of multipacks. I went home with 18 rolls. Unusually, there were hardly any newspapers in the shop, either...

The moral of this true story is - Be nice to people and they'll be nice to you.

I was at the Porton Down facility for the last week in February to deliver training. A very unique place and it's expanding. Now we have a virus contagion, it may be the place that comes up with a vaccine.

Regardless of any situation, panic and ignorance will put most people at risk in any situation. Unless a virus gets airborne, contact is the only way to catch it. Separation and hygiene will work to prevent that happening.
Too far from a shore.

Pic straight from my camera phone. Beach to myself, the walk here was like a ghost town.

Now I know why people usually don't take their ADHD dog with them when out with the camera. Jumps up at you, tries to grab and run off with the tripod, runs into shot, gets everything covered in salt water, makes you nearly drop your glass firecrest filter

Very atmospheric and effective, Is the slope of the horizon due to wide-angle distortion in the camera phone? I don't use one myself so wouldn't know.

I looked carefully for your ADHD dog, but could see no sign of one. Had you thrown it into the sea by then?
A few of my photographs in flickr.
Lizars 1910 "Challenge" quarter-plate camera; and some more recent stuff.

Yes the distortion is from the camera. It's a Mate 20 Pro Huawei that has a wide angle lens in it. Quite good and handy to visualise shots.

Bloody dog was in and out of the sea and was soaking. I'd set up a composition and next thing he'd run through it and the light dry rocks then had a dark wet trail where he'd bolted through it!

He's in the foreground of this picture that shows the route down onto the beach through the cliffs. We've had some erosion lately and a sea stack is forming. Slightly dangerous as it won't be safe as it opens up bigger but on the plus side it lines up nicely to where the sun rises

With a picture like that it makes you wonder why we bother with DSLRs. (OK, I know the answer, but it's still a really good picture.)

The worst case of dog and tripod I've encountered is a huge German Shepherd that started growling when it saw me and tripod walking towards it. The owner grabbed the collar pretty quickly. It turned out the dog had been badly treated as a youngster and now saw anything that looked like a stick as a threat. Old folk with walking sticks were its speciality!
