Aren't photographers meant to get up before dawn to catch the magical light of a glorious sunrise?

Frisian Flag time again here, military jets galore going over for the next week, off to play over the North Sea.
Good weather for the spotters today.
Now where did I leave my earplugs.

Not if they've got a wife (says the voice of experience).
I wonder if ladies say the same about husbands...

I've never forgotten what my father said in his speech at his ruby wedding celebration almost 30 years ago, with his wife sitting at his side: "In 40 years I have never been nagged. But I have been 'improved' ". He was a wise man.

Hull is, as everyone realises, not Geordie but anyone who watched the fine and moving BBC TV programme "Hull's Headscarf Heroes" will know exactly what you mean!

Many years ago, when young and newly married, my boss told me that the most useful words in the English language were "Yes" and "dear", in that order.

Geordieland, Hull, God's own county, Lancashire ...

All north of England. Is that significant??

Chauvinists one and all.
Funny how many of them leave the glorious north for the effete south and never go back .

My family went the other way, two brothers, three cousins, and two nieces all moved north, and wouldn't move south again if you paid them.

My wife being one of them. No desire to go back after Rotherham changed the quarry into a Country Park and Sheffield turned the steel works into a shopping centre. She used to miss the weather, though. Apparently warm, wet, south-westerlies blowing in off the Atlantic are no substitute for biting easterlies sent from Siberia.

Oh congratulations to Honesty and her better half, and to you and Mrs HG. Lovely!

We had snow on Saturday, I hope it was better for the wedding!
