Best Fathers’ Day ever here in Cornwall, treated to lunch by wife and son at a farm shop where they serve their own cattle as beef. Huge delicious portions and wine, followed by a refreshing walk along the beach collecting shells then back for tea and cake.
Sounds good!

My sons chose to ignore Fathers Day. I bought His Nibs some good beer, and he whatsapped a photo of it to them saying Happy Fathers Day. One, the father, replied Thanks! The other two failed to respond.

We were camping at a Dutch Forestry Commission site over the weekend. The idea was to have a short break and more importantly a shower, since we have been without a bathroom for some time now. Well we had the short break but didn't bother with the shower. I was glad we have a loo in the camper! Normally their sites are Ok, not luxury but clean and useable, but this one was just yuk . And expensive!

Woohoo. Bathroom finished (apart from a bit of painting, and the outside of the house painted too. No more workmen demanding coffee and playing their godawful music loudly. No more getting up before 7 am to be ready for them arriving at 7.30 either.

Now if only summer would decide to reappear. I had to check the calendar that it really is 21st June not 21st October .

Hot enough now for you Gwyn? Bet you’re glad to have a shower! It’s all gone quiet outside, apparently there is a football match on the telly.

Was a great opportunity to water the garden - plenty of pressure - before that match ended!

We aren't enjoying your heatwave, just the drought. It is a very comfortable 20C here, but with a north wind feels colder. Where we used to live is a good 5C warmer.

I am sick of sport on the telly. Football, Wimblevision and the Tour is all we seem to be offered at the moment. Despite having his own telly in his mancave His Nibs insists on watching the footie on the main TV, and then watching the green boredom with added grunts after that.

Sounds like you need a bottle of Jamshed Gwyn.

Weather must be better now though, looking at the forecast from here in Blighty

Just started two weeks leave so could end up in various places.

Next weekend is Masham and Leyburn.

Theakstons and Black Sheep anyone?
Too far from a shore.

On til the 5th Aug. but live action shots aren't allowed. It's also on SKY SPORTS MIX (CH 121) and the BBC.

I have a nice story about the Lytham course, my son in law is a member so when I visited a few years ago he took me for a round on a Sunday afternoon. Now I am hopeless, don’t even have a handicap and spent most time hacking through the rough. And for a non member to book a round involves a waiting list measured in years, apparently. Anyhow, on Monday in the office a mad keen golfer told me he had spent the weekend watching the Open at Lytham and I told him of my round. You should have seen his face!

A bunch of photographers signed up for one of those weekend seminars you see in the back of the photo magazines. They were taking the train to Napa for wine tasting and advanced ND filter use for nighttime landscapes. Three Pentaxians went to the station ticket window but bought only one ticket. The three Canikon users (one Mk5, a D750 and a 7200) behind them each bought a ticket and then asked the Pentaxians why they only had one ticket. "Wait and see," was the answer.

When the two groups boarded the train, the 3 Pentaxians jammed themselves into the bathroom while the Canikons took seats. When the conductor came around to check tickets, he knocked on the bathroom door and said, "Ticket please." The door opened a crack and one hand poked out with a ticket. The conductor took the ticket and moved on. The Pentaxians came out and took seats.

At the end of the weekend outing, the two groups were headed to the train station and the Canikons decided they would use the same stunt to save some money so they could buy logo'd Canikon softgoods from ebay. They bought one ticket but noticed the Pentaxians did not buy any. "Why didn't you buy any tickets," they asked. "Wait and see," was the answer. They all boarded the train and the Canikons jammed into one bathroom with the Pentaxians in the other. As soon as the train started moving, one of the Pentaxians slipped out of their bathroom, knocked on the other door and said, "Ticket please.

Looks like summer may be over, it feels like autumn here in West Yorkshire.

After working in the rain on Sunday and only having one day off it's time for a drink.

Now what too have?

Beer, or g'n't, or even a glass of wine....
Cheers, HG

We have been enjoying the local plonk in France for a few days. We were up in the Pyrenees watching vultures circling the cyclists on Col de Tourmalet. One cyclist was in a bad way, puking his guts up at the side of the road. Not sure if the vultures got him.

We were headed to Spain for more plonk and sun, but are having to head north to Oxford instead, for a friends funeral.
Since shorts and t-shirts probably aren't appropriate attire I guess we will be calling in a Bluewater or some other retail hell on the way.
Luckily the waiting lists at ritish crems mean we don't have to rush there but can take our time up through France. Ferries are full but we have managed to find a crossing.

Funerals are never welcome, although compared to shopping hell's....

Hope all goes well for you Gwyn.

Just been told at work today that there's a restructure on the way. It looks like next April may be the time to retire.

With that in mind I think I may buy a new bike and go touring next year while I'm still fit enough.
Cheers, HG
