Well, the fire's going well, beer is in the cupboard and food is cooking.

There's not a lot else to do, we're prepared for the cold snap that's due.

Cheers, HG

Finally some real winter!
We are nice and snug in a well insulated Swedish wooden house.
Wednesday it's supposed to be no warmer than -5, wind chill -20.
Bring it on!

Ok so itís not Pentax but the brand is irrelevant, I absolutely love the photos of Elena Shumilova on Flickr, a young woman living on a farm outside Moscow. Canít do a link but google her name and be inspired by images reminiscent of 19th C fairy tales.

I feel sorry for the great tits that have been giving our nest box regular inspections. They are going to have to sit on their ardour for a while longer before sitting on any eggs.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

The tits will be glad of a place to shelter from the winds whilst waiting for egg-laying weather.

We woke up to a foot of snow this morning with another foot of snow forecasted for tonight. Temps to drop to -7.
May clear the snow from the front of fire station again in the morning.
Snow chains are on and ready to go.
I know what i like, If not always why.

Smugly thought we had missed the worst but got hit this afternoon by a huge blizzard and now itís freezing. Large single malt followed by beef casserole and red wine tonight hit the spot.

This is terrifyingly impressive weather, as we've not really had snow PLUS subzero temps for quite a while. Snowy days usually linger around 0'C but temps are happily dropping below -5C at a moment's notice.

I got out and took a shot with my drone
