Sounds good TT.

We had home made salmon ravioli in a tarragon sauce, followed by roast lamb, roast potatoes, parsnips and onions, sprouts with bacon, and peas and carrots all cooked by youngest son. Followed by a chocolate bowl filled with ice cream and strawberries, made by middle son's wife. A good time was had by all.

Both sons were heading off to yet another meal, with their in-laws this evening.

Harrumph! I had a peanut butter sandwich and a can of cheap lager.

Due to a 48 hour phase shift in our family, the grandchildren are coming on Saturday for their Xmas lunch. Roast duck, claret for the grownups, and open the prezzies afterwards....

We sometimes have Christmas several days late OldTaffy, due to one son working in TV, one usually in Germany for Christmas Eve, and a daughter-in-law who is now a vet and has to work too.
This year two out of the three had the 25th off, but they are working again today, and for New Year too.

When it comes down to it it doesn't really matter if you celebrate it on the 25th or whenever as long as you can get together at some point and enjoy some good food and family fun.

Our Christmas dinner of choice when not with the family is an Indonesian rijsttafel takeaway!

And that is a tableful that the Dutch do particularly well!

One has to be a bit flexible about when to celebrate Christmas or whatever, when the little children will have at least two grandparent families competing for them. Sometimes more than two, when the grandparents may themselves have split up and have new partners/spouses. It can get a bit complicated at times, but with good will it works out well. We generally take turns - one year here and the next year there - and then there are in-laws to fit in as well!

I hope that you have all had (or will soon have) a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Next it's a New Year!

Let's hope it's a good one for all.

Batteries are on charge, cards are checked and it's off to Whitby tomorrow for the final sunset of the year.

Did anyone see the Snow wolves tonight on the Beeb? The best programme over Christmas for me.
Totally engrossing and enchanting.

The last paragraph, chapter twelve...

End the year well, be safe, be well, be content and be healthy.

Sounds like a lot to drink today/tonight if January is to be dry.

Have you considered a local radio announcement for helpers?

Back from Whitby. HOW COLD with the wind chill...

Some serious gusts of wind up at the church. Lunch at the Magpie was superb and the Guinness at the Duke of York was spot on. All images backed up and getting ready to start the evening celebrations.

Best wishes to all.
