My younger daughter [ lives in Bexley ] was flying to Madeira yesterday morning . Needless to say we were a tad concerned - her holiday was only 1 week.
Got an SMS later in the morning to say she was in Madeira and the flight was only about 30 mins late landing !! Not sure which airport she was flying from - could have been Gatwick,Heathrow or even Stansted I suppose .
All we had up here was some very heavy showers at times

Our fence blew down. It is now tied up to a tree with rope, until we can get it fixed properly. More expense
A few trees down in the area, lots of vehicles damaged.
My son's house lost half it's tiles, a building near to him lost it's end gable. A friends ship was damaged when it was blown into the harbour wall.
Apart from that we barely noticed the slight breeze (hurricane up by son).
On the bright side he is now working with a roofer repairing all the damaged roofs around. Earning him much needed cash. His ship was undamaged too. His nearly-ex survived crossing the North Sea in a small coaster during it, and was last seen moored in Seaham.

Sometimes the grammar police are sadly missed....A friends ship was damaged when it was blown into the harbour wall....
Was that a friend's ship or a friendship which was blown into the wall. It would be fun if the storm could destroy friendships! Although it probably tested a few marriages.

A tanker was blocking the road emptying some Portaloos, registration number GO 04 POO, web address on side, www.weremovesh.it
Sadly the web address seems to be a spoof

I was on my mobile, realised I had missed the apostrophe but couldn't correct it as the forum doesn't work well on my mobile. So I gave up. I should have known the grammar police (where is George???) would pick up on that.

I find beans good for wind...
....they give me it every time!
Rant time, the post office have just altered their package sizes so a box that should have cost £5.60 to post has just cost me £8.00!!!
no profit on that item then, thanks PO!

Royal Mail have kept their prices the same, but have increased the size that's allowed as a small parcel.
This should reduce our costs, not increase them.
