I'll have to mull that one over Cedric.

Have a good holiday - lovely area. We had a week on Loch Fyne a few years ago, and explored some of Kintyre too.

Went to Scotland a few years back..

... it rained...

.....heavily!

Trouble was it wasn't that bad in the southern climes of Yorkshire!!!

Should've stayed at home and dry.
Cheers, HG

I went back to my birth-village in north Wales for 2 weeks Easter holiday, some years ago. It rained on 12 days. The other 2 days it snowed. The main advantage that Wales has over Scotland is that the biting insects are not quite so aggressive.

I've been to Scotland only twice . In Argyll we had a glorious start to the week, and a soggy end to it. The second time was when we met up in Glasgow. We had summer that weekend as I recall.

Had a couple of days near Wrexham after that Glasgow meet. We were going to meet up with a cousin of mine but didn't in the end. The sun shone then too. Sort of. We enjoyed our time there and visited some old family haunts around Wrexham. Didn't venture west to the other family home though.
The time before that in north Wales we were rained out, so we gave up and headed south. (Too) Many a childhood summer spent being rained on in north Wales to stay there another week in the rain when we didn't have to.

A hat and slippers! Are you joining your dad in his middle age already?

It nevers rains in Scotland. It's just a myth invented by the England Tourist Board.

Hat and slippers made from a swan, sounds fantastic shown us a photo...jeff. ps I went camping in Scotland years ago beautiful, but we had to take turns smoking cigars to keep the midges out of the tent at night other wise we both got bitten to death .....

Unfortunately the hat and slippers weren't made from swan, more like brown fluff, possibly a stray highland cow?

If they were made from swans though I imagine this is how they'd look...Comment Image

When it`s dry and bright in Scotland it`s a bonus. Hope to find some willing wildlife to shoot. Woke up one morning on Skye to find everything was very white but then Mrs Cedric had a Jimney then so no sweat! Just hope that the Gulf Stream is still streaming.

I'm finding the slanderous tone this thread is taking to be rather shocking.

As I said before, it never rains in Scotland. Average temperatures in Spring are in the low-high 30s and all the midges are vegetarian.

Anything else you may hear is a conspiracy theory.

Never been bit by a Scottish midge, and had more sun that rain whilst there

Sorry Gareth, slander, politics and religion are banned topics.

On a serious note though (on this thread?)at least I get second breakfast on the journey North and I would just love to see how a distillery functions and are Haggis still in season?

Haggis are in season all year round, they breed in the damp so....
