Close up filters, continuation of old thread
I was wondering if it is possible to get a close up filter to attach to my Pentax 100mm macro lens to get shots where usually a 50mm Macro would be most suitable. And also if this would be something worthwhile considering or its just a waste of time and quality wouldn't be good. Do such things ex...

Close up filters, continuation of old thread
Amin, if I understand it correctly you want to use a close up filter on your macro lens so that you would get a even more close up photos right? You could use your Pentax 1.7 tc, it would increase your macro from 1:1 to 1:1.7 You can also reverese mount your 50mm lens, they have both a 49mm filt...

okay good luck with you TC, I've a 2x TC and that one works fine with the 100mm. btw I said reversing but I meant stacking, so reverse mounting your lens on top of the macro lens. The reverse lens acts like an high quality close-up filter so it's a budget solution. But I believe that your TC wil...

Extremely tight fitting hood of Pentax DFA 100mm Macro Lens
Many screw threads can be a bit tricky. Sorry if this is obvious, but try turning it backwards initially so that it can just slip into the thread before turing it to tighten. Hi John thanks for the advice. I did try that. The tricky part is not the latching bit, it seems like the spacing between the...

Extremely tight fitting hood of Pentax DFA 100mm Macro Lens
John Yes the right hood. I just confirmed it, its the only one with 49mm filter lens I have. I had left it since yesterday with the hood on as I was afraid of taking it out, but now tried to remove it, it was quite a struggle, definitely more than double the force that I would usually use to rem...

What type of camera are you?
Gah - I came out Sony. I would'nt dream of having their pap. Hmmf. Actually, I have a DSC-R1 with a non-removable Zeiss f2.8 24-135mm lens that has a 67mm filter size and it is excellent for portraits and point-and-shoot. The lens alone is worth the cost of the camera. I was the upgrade from the Min...

Cokin/Kood filter systems
I fancy a dabble into these filter system and want to get a graduated ND filter - but can you get a straightforward Graduated ND or are they all tinted in some way? I looked on 7dayshop and eBay and they both seemed to offer graduated in anything but ND. Looking forward to your expert advice. ...

Cokin/Kood filter systems
Cokin has them. is some info. Scroll down to nr.960 0n the left side. It says:Cokin ND Grad Kit with 121L ,121M and 121S ND grad. They should be neutral grey. But I have heard they have a slight magenta cast over it. The best ones seem to be from Lee filter systems. Real glass instead of resin....

Cokin/Kood filter systems
Just wondering now but ND filters are always colourless right or else they aren't called ND (neutral density) or am I wrong here? You mean with "tinted" colour right? I've bought a cokin Z-pro set with 3 types GND filters. So from clear to gray, the densities are ND2, ND4 & ND8. Don't know any...

They should be neutral grey. But I have heard they have a slight magenta cast over it. The best ones seem to be from Lee filter systems. Real glass instead of resin. But very expensive. If you get the typical ND grads (3 strenghts, hard and soft edged) you are talking about $ 1000,- That noth...

Cokin/Kood filter systems
The Kood are cheaper Stefan so I'm not surprised they're not as well thought of. Martin - As for post processing graduation I'm not sure that's really what I want it for. I want the exposure to be right in camera for sky and land. It's not worth me spending much but I'd certainly have a pop to...

Cokin/Kood filter systems
I had the P-set from Cokin. Made of resin and all of them had a slight magenta colour cast. The way it showed depended a lot of the light. The were absolutely Not Neutral. Maybe the Z-pro series was better. I don't know that from experience. Martin.

Cokin/Kood filter systems
I expect you can correct the colour cast OK in PP but Cokin are quite expensive if you don't know you'll use them and you sold yours so that tells me something :) Mike

Cokin/Kood filter systems
I sold them only, because L.R. provided me a more precise and Non destructive way to use it on my raw files, Mike. The Colour cast wasn't a big problem, because I do my landscapes always around the golden hours of the day. Sky's tend to have a strong colour cast any way that time. Martin. ...
