My first photos on the forum.

Any constructive comments will be greatly appreciated. The first 2 are obviously the same except the Av. Don't know which I like. They have been cropped at the top because of a little dust on the sensor. Cleaned up now. The rest are straight out of the camera.

More Infra-Red

Thank you folks. Yes the K10D is much less sensitive (or to be accurate the IR filter on the sensor is better) which means that I have to shoot IR at over ISO800 on the K10D (and usually 1600) whereas all these were taken at ISO200 on the DS. The Tech info is:- Pic 1) 2s @ F11 @16mm ISO200 ...

Posting Images.

I think I will forget posting images until the site gets a 21st century upload program on it. RG. He knows how to post as he posted images when his sensor had crap on it. But as we have come to know hotshots he is never happy unless he has something to whine and bi##h about. :( :( :(

Posting Images.

Clarky. You are a bit late with your post. There are several images on the forum way before the crap on the sensor image. My old brain finally sorted it out. I know you are down under, but you just have to get with the program. I spend half my day bitching about the other half !!!! but it's...

DOLLAR COVE

Is that a dust spot on your sensor or a bird above the horizon? Apart from that all I can do is complain about the unfairness of you living in such a beautiful place!

My first lunar photography session

Thank you once again to Chris A for his top tip :) Most kind, but credit should really go to MattMatic, who passed the technique to me. Your latest version is certainly contrastier, but at the expense of additional noise. I can't help feeling that it would look better smaller. (Resampling, ...

Full frame pills (spoof spam)

Thought of that when looking for something to try out the new AF-540FGZ in wireless together with the AF-360FGZ. I noticed the FF on a recent batch of Fishermen's Friends: Ashamed of your high crop factor? Other photographers laughing about you? Not any longer! Take our superior product, FullF...

Full frame pills (spoof spam)

I guess it will take at least a few weeks. I can give you a ring when I retired with my millions on a Caribbean island, which is exactly the time when you should feel your sensor growing...

Another moon photo

Um, think that's not quite right. If the whole field of view is 4.6 degrees, and the moon travels 0.004 degrees every second, and the width of the sensor is 3872 pixels, then the pixels 'travelled' by the moon would be given by the ratios: 4.6/0.004 = 3872/p 4.6 = (3872*0.004)/p p = (387...

Trying out my new Sigma 10-20mm...

Anyway, I stand corrected - in that one it isn't as slight as I thought ! I wasn't so much attacking your use of 'very slight', more trying to calibrate my own expectations. I never used extreme wide angle lenses (nothing, in fact, shorter than 28mm) in my film days, so I have no idea what was 'n...

Cicada Macro

...and it obviously depends on the size of the insect, find your self a willing dragonfly and you'll have to back off to get it all in, or at 1:1 you'll just get it's head and torso. It's surprising how small insects actually tend to be. Ladybirds seem quite big, perhaps because they're red, but...

RE: Frosty patterns

Hi All, After spending the weekend cleaning, polishing and waxing my car, I got up monday morning and saw this ....... Not the best pictures but I was in a rush to get to work, anyway I do clean my car a lot (much to the wifes dismay) but thats the first time I have seen patterns like ...

RE: Frosty patterns

I've seen patterns like Paul's, on my car the morning after cleaning and waxing it. I suspect that it's something to do with the way that moisture beads up on a freshly waxed surface, then freezes, allowing larger ice crystals to form. Which gives me an idea, all I need is a sheet of polished me...

Morning stroll with a bigma

Amazing for hand held. No discredit at all to Chirpy, but with the shake reduction of the K10D (and his GX10), this isn't at all amazing. You'd expect to need 1/750s or faster to avoid camera shake with a 500mm lens with an APS-C sensor, and he's used shutter speeds from 1/250 to 1/1000. The sha...

Gunk on the sensor? :)

*istD, Sigma 105/2.8 EX DG Macro, 1/250 s, A9.5, ISO 200 Took that in the botanical garden in Hong Kong. I set quite a trend by taking this shot as a number of visitors took their P&S cameras and stuck it right where my lens had been a few seconds earlier. Given the talent of the Asians t...

Gunk on the sensor? :)

Lovely shot Prieni, it so different. :) The lines in the texture are very fine and of course the shadow finish it all.

Gunk on the sensor? :)

Really cool shot Prieni. Lovely shades of green, and a brilliant vantage point :) This looks vaguely familiar, is this one of your PPG shots? I can't beleive this didn't get any comments the first time round!
