Freezing K5

Based on the comment above, I'm very keen to see what the plan is for a K-50 and K-3 successor, given the K-S2 hints at being a separate product line. If Pentax updated their firmware on all current models, (ie K-50 and K-3) to allow for real SR in movie mode, instead of that 'Movie SR' mess, the...

Freezing K5

That's true. But I personally don't want a 24Mp sensor, I don't want dual SD slots, I don't want the ugly wart on the front (headphone jack) and I defo' don't want to use an influenza card to get WiFi capability. I think the K-3 misses the mark for me.. I'll continue use the K-50 as my DLSR unt...

I want one already

I know it's not uncommon for wedding photographers to be surrounded by guests with 'better' / newer camera equipment. The reality is that the camera doesn't make the photo. As an aside, putting my thinking cap on... Newer cameras often have features to make the shot easier, but professional p...

Upgrading

I have seen lots of people upgrading their cameras on this forum wether its the k3 or the the k5ii or the new full frame sensor camera. I feel that i should be looking at better camera myself as i do not feel my images can compete with to days cameras like the k3, i own a mid range kr 12.4 megapixel...

Upgrading

I recently upgraded from the K-r to a K50 and whilst it has a better sensor (it has the same one as the K5 I believe) that was only one of several reasons. The K50 has a WR body and I got it as the 'bargain bundle' with the 18-135WR lens so I can now go out in 'traditional' English weather withou...

Upgrading

It also depends upon additional factors... The Pentax K3 offers some of the best WR on the market. Add quite the variety of lenses that have the WR attached to them; something that even Nikon does not offer (Nikon only offers WR on their camera bodies, not their lenses). Better yet, wait until...

A good start ? The start? Should they be at ' the start' ... No, of course they shouldn't. In an ideal world. But Pentax has been fighting its way back from near collapse on a very small budget. Thank goodness they at last have an owner with decent resources, but it would be unreasonable to ex...

And no doubt people will be complaining that there aren't enough lenses for the big new sensor. Which should get interesting, when it does happen . My answer to those complaints... There are presently on the market (sold as new) almost 50 PK full frame lenses. Add to that the hundredS that were form...

Long exposure warning

My solution is my black hat. Set up the shot, put hat over back of camera with remote or 2 second timer fire camera. I used the same method over the lens between shots when taking the eclipse to keep the bright sun off the sensor. EASY. CHEERS Vic.

Long exposure warning

OK, well I just tried the torch test (LEDlenser P7) with the K-50. Nothing got through to the sensor.

what size card for shooting in raw please?

I shoot everything in RAW. All the cards I use are 16mp. I'm looking at my K30 as I write this and it has an empty 16mp in it - the rear screen tells me I have 413 shots available. Yet the 16mp card in my K5 has the same size sensor as the K30 apparently has 460 shots available The K3 which has a ...

Pentax-FU

Have I missed something specific about the K-S2 one? No, but it's a feature worth highlighting as it's a much better experience than even most other DSLR viewfinders. I'm delighted that Pentax have kept with this as it's a more expensive option than the pentamirror and possibly even the EVF. The ful...

Could they become a thing of the past

I'm going to dissent a bit here. Current high ISO sensor performance (at least on my K30) is already vastly better than it was in the past, vastly better than in film days, and I almost never find it necessary to use flash because of low light levels. And I'm pretty sure it will improve further f...

Very informative links about formatting SDHC and SDXC cards - worth reading!

Whilst taking a break from more prosaic things (cleaning/ painting outside parts of the house :-() I came across on the US forum where someone is having trouble with his K-3 suddenly not reading cards. One of the responders then points to with a lot a (pretty technical!) info on the various ty...

Blurred images - please help!

Nobody has replied to you regarding Live View. Put the camera on a tripod and put your specs on so you can see straight (serious! It's important). Push the LV button and the mirror will go up with a loud 'clack!' Now the screen on the back is showing exactly what is being registered by the senso...

Blurred images - please help!

It's recommended for very long exposures, but using the regular DSLR system. LiveView is something else and it shouldn't be necessary in this instance. Not sure that's correct, JR. Long exposures or live view, in both cases the mirror is up to expose the sensor.. Liveview simply give you a live fe...

Epson XP760 - impressed!

Totally agree - and in fact Epson have been producing very credible photo printers for some time now - and their Claria inks take some beating. I replaced my 3 year old Epson PX710 with the 760 a couple of months ago and have been perfectly happy with it and the A4 prints are excellent. Just ...
