Best air blower for camera?

I wouldn't worry too much about getting dust inside the camera. It's pretty much inevitable that it will get in sooner or later. Most of the time it causes no problem and goes unnoticed (although it can be a bit irritating if it's visible in the viewfinder). The sensor can be cleaned easily enough e...

Best air blower for camera?

Going back to original question, I don't think its a good idea to use a blower into the camera with the lens off is it? I think you're more likely to blow dust into the camera. I would suggest not worrying about dust getting in - just change the lens indoors and point the camera downwards while the...

Best air blower for camera?

It shouldn't be a problem using a Giottos Rocket blower, I've used mine many times with no issues. Remember to hold the camera facing downwards when you use the blower and you won't introduce more dust. I also change lenses very frequently and always hold the camera downwards when doing so. I don'...

Best air blower for camera?

I change lenses a lot. I don't have problems with dust. On the odd occasion I have had I have cloned out the marks until it got too annoying, when I cleaned the sensor with a Butterfly. There seems little point in buying a blower and risking importing dust when good lens changing habits can help...

Best air blower for camera?

I think the best kind of sensor cleaning product is an antistatic swab (is that like the butterfly you mentioned Gwyn?) But again, I would not do anything until there is noticable problems with the images and the SR system dust removal on the camera is not clearing it. David .. why do you blow a...

Best air blower for camera?

Not had to worry with the K3, but with the K-r regularly had to clean dust off sensor, sometimes worked with the sensor shake, if not the rocket blower sorted it and never introduced any additional dust, it is a small fine jet of air, also never actually had nozzle inside camera, the air dusters I w...

Best air blower for camera?

I'd never blow air inside the camera. Dust floats about in air so holding it facing downwards while doing so is of little help. The high frequency sensor shake dust removal on start up on teh K-5 onwards has meant that after owning four K-5s I've never had to clean the sensor on any of them yet...

Best air blower for camera?

David .. why do you blow air into the mirror box? Who said anything about blowing air into the mirror box Nigel? When using a Giottos blower you set 'mirror up' and blow a defined stream of air at whatever is on the sensor to dislodge it, it is not just a general blowing of air into the mirror box....

Best air blower for camera?

Normally, when I change lenses, the shutter is shut over sensor ... quite! I've never bothered about which way up the sensor is facing and I've never wet cleaned the K20 or the Q, the built in sensor shaking seems to do the job for me. However, getting back to the original question, the Giotto...

Check out this "dust blower"

Seems like a nice idea at first, but I don't trust it to take good care of a delicate sensor.

Why we don't need FF

Typically larger sensors capture more light and are better suited to low light situations, and they allow for narrower depth of field shots for a given lens. If these are important to you, then FF will be of interest. FF no longer means higher MP images as heck, even a cell phone can have higher...

Why we don't need FF

When I bought my *istD body I only had 35mm format lenses. All of a sudden my wide angle lenses were crippled. Indeed, for several years I was under the impression of why should I have to buy new glass just to get back to where I was with 35mm format. I finally gave in and decided that if I ha...

Why we don't need FF

I know Pentax get's ruled out of most pro conversations simply because they don't have a FF offering. Whether that is fair is another story, but it does happen unfortunately, which is ironic given Pentax off MF that steps it up again to a higher level. I see a lot of praise for the Fuji system on m...

Why we don't need FF

A few years ago there was a lot to be said for the bigger is better argument but advances in sensor design and processing mean that even very small sensors such as that in the MX-1 (sorry to bang on about this camera again, it's not as if I'm obsessed or anything) can produce images of a quality uni...

Why we don't need FF

Bigger will always be better. That makes it harder to handle/carry and it's also more expensive to buy and (usually forgotten) repair. ...... Just spotted this one Lens Rentals site...... " (Lensrentals insider joke: What do you call a D800 with a scratched sensor? Parts. Because at $1,800 for a ...
