A full frame (I hate the term ) camera has a sensor the same sive as a frame of 35mm film so quite a bit bigger the APS-C size sensor in a Pentax DSLR. The bigger the sensor the bigger the print you can make. Most amateur people would find no benefit whatsoever and the downside is much bigger, heav...

So is a 645 sensor bigger again?

A FF (135 sized Sensor) sits roughly halfway inbetween an APS-C and the 645D/Z Sized Sensor. Of course, the sensor in a FF camera is likely to be a lot cheaper than the 645 sensor. That would be the advantage, to bridge the gap between the ~£1k K3 and the ~£7k 645Z.

Hi, can someone explain how a full frame camera would benefit you over a camera with a sensor. regards Dave One of the main benefits is becuase the sensor is bigger each pixel is bigger and gathers more light. This means better dynamic range/high ISO performance.

I believe the lenses made for APS-C only are a great big con. Why should a lens which has do do less work on the edges cost as much or more than a FF lens? I really think the whole APS-C business was OK, when Digital started. But this days, I can not see why a FF sensor should really be so m...

FF will allow shallower DOF without needing to upgrade to faster lenses. For instance on APSC it's near impossible to get shallow DOF on a wide angle lens, whereas on 35mm the tiny, cheap DA35/2.4 will give you 'the look'. May not be the world's greatest snapshot, but I like the sense of ...

rant
Shades of the religion discussion here, in that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but not to push it on others. I respect everyone else's opinions, comments and suggestions, but do what I want in the end as it's my choice and life. As with everything with no clear cut answer, it's all u...

rant
I've been following this thread and wanting to respond but I'm still not sure what the best response is. :) The "rant" seems based upon the premise that real photography is based upon what you see and take with the camera, but I've never ever taken a photograph, either with film or digital that's ...

K5 II no longer on SRS website
Maybe Ricoh are about to announce a K5III with the 24MP sensor from the K3 or possibly a K60/K600. The K-series range is looking a bit limited/unbalanced now. It either needs a replacement in the slot currently occupied by the K5IIs although this would then undermine the K3, or more likely the K3...

help
The DS and K10 had a different sort of sensor to the K5 didn't they? I think that is the reason. I know when I look at photos I took with the Ds they have more zing and clarity to them straight from the camera than anything from the K-5. I felt like you when I upgraded from a Ds to a K20 and on ...

I'm just waiting for the flak !! -or not!!!
I don't think anyone on here would want deliberately to produce effects that are excessively distorted away from reality .... mostly we photographers aim to process in a way that reproduces and illuminates the best output quality that the sensor is capable of. That is the real purpose of image proce...

Best air blower for camera?
You won't go wrong with one of the Giottos Rocket Air blowers +1 Even better than one of these is a can of Air Duster spray if used properly (e.g. Kenro Kenair, or similar - I use the 5 Star Air Duster), but you need to make sure that you always follow the instructions and keep the can uprigh...
