3:2, 4:3. 1:1, or 16:9?
On my Panasonic LX7 compact which has a choice of aspect ratio's I keep it at 4:3 as this uses more of the sensor than the other ratio's. As I do my own mounting I then crop to whatever ratio looks best.

Extreme Poll
Can't comment directly on those particular cards but as screwdriver222 says it is as much about the camera you have as it is about the cards. I use a K-x and have shot over a thousand times fast moving karts or planes..almost entirely on single not continuous shooting mode. I used to use a Fuji c...

Focus within magnification
First thing to do if you haven't done so already is to calibrate the AF. You be able to see from the photos whether they are front focussing or back focussing. Take a bunch of pics at widest aperture in daylight and adjust the AD calibration ( custom menu #26 ) between +/-10 until it focusses ...

Anyone using their DSLR for video
I use the K7 a lot for video and I find it excellent. I'm not doing any more than family days out, but I enjoy making it all interesting with editing in Sony Vegas software, so appreciate the high quality available. For more creative work we have our member richandfleur in New Zealand setting settin...

Anyone using their DSLR for video
I use the K7 a lot for video and I find it excellent. Do you have some samples of your results from the K-7? I have always found it woeful for video recording. For one thing that Samsung sensor does not have the latitude for it and the 1024p resolution is weird. (720p is worse than horrible)

I don't recognise that description of the K7 video features and quality - you can get superbly smooth and high quality video from the camera, but on any camera it depends a lot how you go about it - you have to work with the characteristices of the medium. If you follow the key guidelines I mentione...

I don't know what is meant by the sensor not having 'latitude' - I guess that's referring to the less than stellar low light performance of the Samsung sensor, its achilles heal.

I don't know what is meant by the sensor not having 'latitude' Latitude is related to dynamic range. Latitude refers to the exposure flexibility of the captured footage. ..the video quality from my K7 looks every bit as good as professional HD movie streamed over Netflix. I look forward to agreei...

I assumed that my K7 (& sensor shake SR systems generally) would not have any software stabilisation going on at all? So are you saying then that the 645z example there would not be better with SR off on the tripod (the slow pan bit I mean) ?

I assumed that my K7 (& sensor shake SR systems generally) would not have any software stabilisation going on at all? All Pentax IL cameras since the K-5II use software SR (MovieSR) in video mode regardless that mechanical stabilisation is available and used in stills mode. So are you saying then...

I assumed that my K7 (& sensor shake SR systems generally) would not have any software stabilisation going on at all? I'm pretty sure that's correct. The earlier models used 'real' mechanical stabilisation, just like they all do now for stills photography. The newer ones appear to use software st...

Yes, you're right Richard ... The K7 has no problem with moving or spinning objects and only responds to actual physical camera movement. I have sensed your frustration at times that (as Sledger just said) the 'mechanical' system used for stills is there in the newer bodies, but just not implemented...

I have sensed your frustration at times Yeah I'm actually very passionate about the brand and find it extremely easy to talk it up against the competition in stills mode. The K-30 has a large, full coverage pentaprism viewfinder, excellent sensor, is weather sealed, has two control dials, has a (p...

Dynamic range compared to compact camera's
During the vacation I wanted to make some nice shots of a sunset over a lake and to do this with my K20D the only way is to use bracketing and make 3 of 5 shots at different shutter speeds to prevent highlights from blowing out and shadows from being completely invisible. The end results can be gre...

AC charger ??
Is there no charger supplied with the camera? It does seem to increasingly be the case. You could try eBay and there are suppliers there of genuine chargers at lower prices. Some cheap chargers may not have overcharge protection or sensor ability to know when the battery is optimally charged. ...

T-stops vs F-stops
Just lately I've seen T/stops being referred to with the concept of the speedbooster on mirrorless cameras. Traditionally the only way to get more light in through a lens was to open the aperture, so you could honestly say that aperture related to the amount of light captured. However with a s...

pentax k7
The sensor in the K-7 is the same as in the K20, so my advise is don't do it, look out for one of the K-5's the difference will prove huge. P.S I put over 100,000 shots on a K-7

pentax k7
The sensor in the K-7 is the same as in the K20, Yes and no. It was slightly "improved" by Samsung (the manufacturer), and the processor is also "tweaked". The AF is better and the frame rate is greatly improved. For some, the ergonomic is better, for other, it's not. Depends on who you as...

filming with K30, 50mm f1.7 + wide angle adaptor?
hello, I am using my camera to film these days (some music covers), and it's really dark in the music studio. I've filmed with the K30 with the 50mm f1.7 at 800 ISO and the results are decent. The only problem is the 50mm on APS-C sensor is pretty zoomed in. So I am considering the cheap £20 wide a...
