Full Frame for the Insecure?

As a working professional, I needed my Hasselblad 6x6 and Mamiya 6x7 because clients would need 6ft and more prints for mural and large display. Also, magazine picture editors often liked to see large format transparencies because they were incapable of interpreting 35mm. For full frame and mor...

Full Frame for the Insecure?

Lemmy- That makes sense. Genuine question- if one of these guys used a camera with a smaller sensor, would the clients stop buying them do you think? - I just wonder whether its self perpetuating? One thing is for sure. It will be very interesting to turn all this debate into reality should a FF ...

Full Frame for the Insecure?

I think if I ever change sensor size, it will be for a smaller one, once they reach the level of APS-C now...

Full Frame for the Insecure?

Why does a DLSR such as the K10D/K5 etc only have a APS-C sensor. Afterall the bodies are bigger than most 35mm film bodies and the "mirror hole" looks about the same size to me. Could not the next upgrade be to install a full frame sensor into this size of camera? Bernard

Full Frame for the Insecure?

I would forgo SR for a bigger sensor to be honest. But I ask myself, if they can produce a camera like the k5 which is so much smaller than say the D7000, which does not have SR, why couldn't they make a FF camera which is only slightly larger.

Adobe Lightroom: Opinions from users?

Hi, Have the opportunity if I wish to purchase this software in the Student Edition...... Seeing as I am once again a student... I'm currently using Picassa and while it is ok, the editing is pretty poor I think. Especially when trying to remove dust spots. Unfortunately I think my house is ju...

Adobe Lightroom: Opinions from users?

Hi, . . . trying to remove dust spots. Unfortunately I think my house is just too dusty for my Dslr . . . Lightroom will be an excellent choice for your images. A vacuum cleaner would be a better option for your house. :D:D I very gently applied a glasses cleaning cloth to the se...

Ricoh M mount

Not keen in the Pellacle mirror myself due to its inherent problem of only allowing 70% of the light through to the sensor. This means that you have to increase the time by 30%, reduce the shutter speed by 30% or raise the ISO by 30%. However the bonus is that Sony have to produce impressive perform...

Full Frame - A wish list

This is purely a wish list on what we would like to have in a Pentax FF camera. We know nothing is going to happen (yet?), as Pentax are dedicated to APS-C. But, we still hope. At the moment, there are three makes of FF DSLR's (ignoring Leica, which is a rangefinder), but each does have their comp...

Full Frame - A wish list

We live in hope. I'm amused that people think APS-C can out perform FF for IQ. I haven't seen one that will do that but in due course "new" APS-C will out perform legacy FF. It's like claiming 35mm will out perform 120 format - bigger sensor/neg will perform better all other things being equal. My...

Full Frame - A wish list

The OP wants a full frame yet poo poos most of the options available!!! If the D700 & D3x's low light are last generation then what is the best low light option for ff??? As I understand one of the reasons to go FF is for the low light capabilities, are you saying that APS -C low light capabiliti...

Today's the day...

Now now there's no need to be ... ....oh! I see what you mean. Seriously, Sony are working on a FF sensor (so I'm told) which would, like the other sensors they produce , be available to the new PENTAX RICOH IMAGING COMPANY, LTD. Could there be a FF K1 on the horizon?

Purple fringing - the cause?

I know that the problem of purple fringing has been mentioned again and again in these forums. Almost always, it is in the context of a particular lens, and there are one or two lenses that are regularly criticised for this fault. My question is provoked by several recent publications that seem t...

Purple fringing - the cause?

It can't be all in the sensor, surely, if some lenses are regularly condemned for the fault. Some lenses are, without a doubt, much worse than others for this. In my experience, the Sigma A400 F5.6 (non APO) and the Tamron 70-300 are very susceptible. I tried to get to the bottom of this sever...

Purple fringing - the cause?

http://toothwalker.org/optics/chromatic.html Well yes, this is the clearest explanation of axial CA as a cause for PF. But note the paragraph at the end - it all gets very 'arm-waving' as soon as anyone talks about whether the sensor's contributing. I'm far from convinced that anyone understands...

Fungus

I have used vinegar or computer monitor cleaning spray (alcohol-based) in the past, none of the lenses I have thus treated show any signs of a return of the fungus. I tend to dunk a cotton bud in the liquid then polish the fungus away. Surgical-type gloves help to keep fingerprints off the eleme...
