HDR
I think the original question has been lost throughout the course of this thread... the reason why it doesn't do it in one exposure is simply a matter of physics; DSLRs still work essentially the same way as cameras always have; exposure is determined by a combination of aperture and shutter speed, ...

Dear Pentax Ricoh
- develop Modular system with external modules (like GXR but more split) ... split body, sensor and lens units ... we can use body when we travel in other case we can use tablet (Android, iPad etc.) for directing with bigger display (important), it is real revolution .. not only mirrorless. I thi...

Advise about a digital compact
From a pentax perspective I would echo John's thoughts on the WG-1. I have one of these and whilst it clearly has some limitations against a DSLR, I have been pretty impressed with the pics I have managed to get, especially with a bit of PP. I can confirm that it has so far stood up a range of thing...

Shoot, then focus?
This is very interesting technology. However, if you read the inventor's treatise, you will see that it requires a 100mp sensor to give an 1800x1200px image which in turn needs a huge amount of software manipulation to make the IQ acceptable. Taking nothing away from it but it's a heavy price to ...

Found this...thought of us!
It may not be as straightforward as stated, as I have heard that Sony sensor production has been affected. If that's true, there may be a supply problem with sensors anyway. Pentax also produces at least many lenses in Thailand, but I'm not sure where those factories are in realtion to the proble...

...a rather strange hybrid for the collectors to drool over in years to come. A K-5 Special with only 14.6MP..... Only you, in all the world, would find that something to drool over John :D:D:D:D:D (or is there something super-special about that sensor, that I'm missing?)

Have Samsung caught up with Sony in terms of sensor design?

Found this...thought of us!
It would be interesting if a batch of K-5s with Samsung sensors had to be made - that would create a rather strange hybrid for the collectors to drool over in years to come. A K-5 Special with only 14.6MP..... I think it would be a mistake to put the "K-5" label on such a camera, the K-5 having quit...

Found this...thought of us!
Have Samsung caught up with Sony in terms of sensor design? Not as far as I am aware. They have made some improvements recently to their compact sensors but their latest top of the range NX-series camera, the NX-11, features an ASP-C sensor with a top ISO setting of 3200, and produces a fair amount ...

I had a feeling that they were still using a very similar sensor to the K7. Which when you think of it, is actually pretty much the same as the one in the K20D. That sensor's coming on for four years old now! Bring that tumbling down and it's just another average DSLR that's inconveniently not ma...

It's impossible to say what other people think of something as our experience is limited to the internet forum community. There will be far more people who have never heard of a sensor stain than actually register it and relate it to anything.

LED theatre lanterns
Yeah, sounds plausible. Might be worth investigating whether a Sigma camera with a Foveon sensor mitigates the problem (not a very cheap solution!) I suppose the best bet might be to try and negotiate with lighting techies to get 'flatter' light for your shoots? I'm presuming working in theatres ...

LED theatre lanterns
This is something to do with the frequencies and voltage's that the LED's run at, LEDs are powered by DC voltages so there is no variation of frequency. Sounds like "salesman speak" to me  The illumination issues are down to the spectral output of the LED, and that has more to do with the m...
