Z 70
I have just purchased a Z70 without a manual. I have obtained a PZ70 manual which seems to cover most things with two exceptions - The date back and the panorama function. Can anyone help me with info about these please.

Does the camera have a data back?...........if not then ignore that bit. the data back is a device which replaces your currant back of the camera and will ad a date to the picture. the date can usually be seen in the bottom right hand corner of the picture. As for the panorama function. the camera s...

What is Aperture
hi phat. Aperture refers to Depth of focus. There are many subjects on this topic if you just enter in aperture into google. Basically the smaller the number, the wider the aperture and the shallower depth of focus you will have. This is good for when you want an object in the foreground nice and...

What is Aperture
Can I just define a couple of things - don't want to lecture at anyone! - but there is a big difference between DEPTH OF FIELD and DEPTH OF FOCUS. DEPTH OF FIELD refers to the nearest and furthest points in a photo that are acceptably sharp. A small aperture gives extensive depth of field and a l...

What is Aperture
A few photo tips. If you insist on using flash at night then you have to be really high up so that the flash can light up the whole city. At a minimum, try a stepladder but you really need to be higher still. The best flashes are the ones that come free with the the camera as they are very high p...

What is Aperture
Phat, returning to the topic of this thread, have you got to grips with the relationship between aperture and shutter speed yet? If not, this is how I explain it to beginners, I keep it very simple and don't worry about depth of field at this stage as that can be considered as 'fine tuning', as ...

What is Aperture
Hi Phat, I have the same camera (P30T) & flash. Good on you for starting out on a complex camera. With a bit of practice you should master the basics - don't be discouraged & keep asking for info or read up on it. The aperture is like an eye - it is able to let more light in or less ligh...

Motordrive vs winder and other questions
A winder will typically deliver around 2 frames/sec, but a proper motor drive will give 5 or more frames/sec. The motor drive is for hard professional use. When I buy lenses, wherever possible I try to ensure the filter sizes are the same. If you stick with Pentax lenses this will be easier. Most...

How do I know what lenses fit my Z70? - newbie
Likewise, any that are Pentax autofocus fit will be fine. Manual focus lenses will be iseable as well, but I have suggested the straightforward approach so that you will be sure of getting something suitable. Although I prefer pentax lenses for all sorts of reasons, lenses from Sigma, Tamron, Viv...

How do I know what lenses fit my Z70? - newbie
I recently picked up a brand new Tamron 75-300mm auto focus zoom lens from my local camera shop for 90 pounds. I have only shot 1 film so far using it but it seems ok. The only complaint is that it is a bit of a bulky beast, although I believe that their latest model is smaller and lighter.

Seriously - film SLRs phased out? Pentax.com
Hi, I am in agreement in broad terms with Matt. Pentax have shown they can produce small batchs of cameras over the years with all the Limited and SE versions they have produced. There have been several specials of the LX, a gold K1000 and SE versions of the K1000, MES and ME. There was even a spec...

Seriously - film SLRs phased out? Pentax.com
Kim, Pentax lost market share prior to the M series because of two things. First, they were the last brand to introduce a bayonet mount; and second, the Olympus OM was a great success, and took market share from all competing companies. Pentax fought back with the ME and the MX, and recovered...
