Split Screen Focusing

When I used these cameras I never used the split image, relying just on the sharpness as perceived on the focusing screen. It depends on our eyesight whether we can do this. Also, the viewfinder is set at about -1 dioptre, so our eyes need to be able to focus on an image about 1 metre away, which is...

Split Screen Focusing

My last MF film camera had a diagonal split and this worked perfectly if there were any strong vertical or horizontal lines in the shot. The surrounding area, brightened by a fresnel screen, snapped in and out of focus sharply and worked well with most subjects. I'm sure the MX Super is equally capa...

Split Screen Focusing

The P30n has a diagonal split screen - I found it even harder than the standard one. I found that you need to shove your eye right into the viewfinder frame to be able to see both halves clearly but I suspect that John's comment about differential visual acuity (blimey-that's good!) is more than hal...

Split Screen Focusing

Split screen and microprism focusing are great. Most of my film cameras have them and I installed a Katzeye with both in my K200D to allow me to use manual focus lenses on it.

Split Screen Focusing

I think it's just a matter of getting used to it (with glasses/contacts if needed), and looking for objects at or close to the desired focal point where it will be obvious if they are 'split'. Try turning the camera to focus it if the object doesn't have vertical edges. I used split screen focusin...

Going back to my roots: the humble MV

Last year after much deliberation I had to sell beloved pair of LX and various SMC M lenses, this was very reluctant, most of the cash went into my sons 'university rent and car fund', I also managed to buy a Fuji x100 second hand for £250, for old time sake I kept my pentax MX with 40mm 2.8, (I cou...

Going back to my roots: the humble MV

Just generally questioning... Drop me a note and/or message here on what type of dslr bodies (even medium format) one is looking for. I've personally "ran across" three Pentax used medium format bodies within about the last month or so. Two of the used were both mint condition Pentax 645d's; t...

Going back to my roots: the humble MV

[quote][i should stop buying film cameras, but they are just so nice!/quote] I agree. The quality of film cameras such as the Pentax LX or some of the Ricoh models is simply incredible; the Nikon f5 and F6 could also be added to that list. Even the 80's generation Pentax glass is remarkable...

18 years traveling with a Pentax Espio Mini

I think it was back in 1996 that the Pentax Espio mini came to my attention, now off and on this has been my travel light camera since then, for me it has everything, its small, light but still well built, has a lovely coated sharp 32mm lens and I particularly love the panoramic mode. Prices have fl...

18 years traveling with a Pentax Espio Mini

I carried mine everywhere in my jeans pocket for several years until it finally developed a fault (slight pressure on the back door makes it think you've loaded a new film and it advances several frames). Beautiful & brilliant camera, very small for a 135 and an excellent lens. The IR remote I bo...

My MZ-7 has had a thrombi

Hi to you all out there. I have recently purchased a Pre-owned MZ-7 from a private seller,it was fine after installing new CR2's and running the roll of film that was already loaded through the camera. The odd/coincidental thing about the roll of film - there had already been 6 exposures on it an...
