Did focus screens change ?
Do you really really want to do that Pete? It isn't intended for the K-7, despite a few people having a go at grinding down the screens and putting them in anyway. Why not have a word with one of the repair houses first to make sure?

Did focus screens change ?
Will it actually damage the K-7, or is it a case of just putting the old one back in if it doesn't work? I had a couple of generic brand "split-prism with collar" screens in my K-m (£15 and under from Ebay) which worked fine. Pete is essentially doing the same process that the guys in China/Korea...

Did focus screens change ?
The potential for damage might be there if, for example, a screen was too thick and ended up being forced in. The potential for damage is there when the screens are changed. If the screen is cut, how about the dust and debris created by the cutting? Screens should not be cleaned as they are so soft....

If you do end up doing a job on the screen could you take photos while you work and show us the results? I love hearing about these kinds of hardware mods/hacks

If you do end up doing a job on the screen could you take photos while you work and show us the results? I love hearing about these kinds of hardware mods/hacks I was actually considering a movie ! I documented the K100D screen I previously did . I like gear hack projects too :) as I am likely...

SFX advice
I bought a SFX off e-bay some months ago and tried to set it up last night for use this weekend. I don't have an AF lens for it so was using a Sigma KA I have. The film won't load despite the motor engaging, the cogs move about 3mm. The CENTIC display won't show mode selection unless the back is ope...

Program-A
Morning Bought a K-X last year as a first SLR of any kind. I was then able to pick up a Program-A for £30 purely because it had a Pentax-A f1.7 50 attached to it. Undecided what to do with it but the 50 is back on it as I treated myself to the Sigma 50. I'm enjoying the photography so much I'm t...

Program-A
Fuji's Velvia 50 is probably THE best slide film around. Colour saturation is quite brilliant. It ceased production for about 18m then Fuji brought it back after a lot of pressure from Pro users. Velvia 100 is also very good and I've shot a lot of rolls of it with good results all the way (quality o...

Off to Budapest: Trouble with film choice.... Advice form the experienced required!
I would take the Ektar as it is lovely film if you have the light, as well as the 400ASA stuff. I used to travel with just 64ASA film! If you only want to take two bodies, don't forget you can change films mid-roll. To do that: a) make a note of the frame number b) push in the rewind button t...

Off to Budapest: Trouble with film choice.... Advice form the experienced required!
The Fed 2 is great, because of my glasses I sometimes have a little difficulty judging the focus but that's just practice I think....! Must use it more, going to try it with B+W soon I think. I might take the Spotty as well, just decide on the day which one to take, Ektar in the Super A and 400H...

what film camera to get??
I've used an MZ5n for a few years now, allows fully automatic exposure and focussing at one end of the scale, and fully manual at the other. It's also very light. Put on an old Pentax manual lens, put it into autofocus mode, point at the subject and hold the shutter open - shutter won't fire unt...

what film camera to get??
I have a MZ-50 and a Z-10 for point and shoot and prefer the Z-10 out of the 2, but I still prefer my old ME Super even though its not auto focus. just not meant for point and shoot but I still find it more pleasure to use. The mz-50 is good if you want something that doesnt matter if you break it t...

what film camera to get??
Another one to consider for dabbling in film: MZ-10 It's a bit of an oddball with a plastic lens mount and a general feel of having been built down to a price, but it has a full K mount and supports Power Zoom (not the extra functions, you need the right Z-series bodies for those but it will powe...

Fun to come?
I remember when I first used XP2 - still blows me away. Don't worry about exposure, just press the button and it always seems to work. Quite astounding. I took photos of my school play back in the early 80s using XP1 at 1600ASA. I was very pleased with the results! The Kodak BW400CN is very simi...
