Don t hold your breath for a Pentax Mirrorless SLR !!
So that would mean a mirror less body for K mount being 25mm thicker than necessary, going against the trend for smaller and lighter amongst us old folk This is exactly what the K-01 was - being one of the earliest mirrorless cameras. If we look back at it, it's clear that something similar would...

Don t hold your breath for a Pentax Mirrorless SLR !!
Dream on? https://www.thephoblographer.com/2020/12/31/youll-have-lucid-dreams-about-this-wonderful-pentax-camera/ Not sure about only screw threaad lenses though. Not exactly what I would want but I too have thought Pentax had a solid claim to a retro camera. Instead Olympus and Fuji have grabbed...

Pentax shift to online marketing and sales not limited to Japan
What does this mean for retailers here? If I cannot pick up and try a product then I am not interested - example: I tried the much vaunted Fuji XT4 yesterday and put it straight back, poor grip made it unusable with long lenses.

Pentax shift to online marketing and sales not limited to Japan
Surely this is to be expected. If not liked. As all camera manufacturers see a decline of camera sales, in the UK. The handling of product's. As I read it. Will still be available. But through workshops rather than retailers. Though we may have to sign up for a workshop. Rather than just visit a loc...

I Photographed the Moon … with the Q S-1
Ignore previous post.... I missread yours Steve! Biggest problem will be what is its longest exposure setting or if it has it got a bulb setting? 'Bulb' mode is available if you use a genuine Pentax K-Q adapter, not if a 3rd party adapter is used. The reason is that 'bulb' mode is only available ...

I Photographed the Moon … with the Q S-1
Great stuff well done reminds a bit of the extreme macro challenge here a few years back.

new Ricoh gr camera has clues to upcoming Pentax models?
It does look a great little compact camera, as the Film GR is well regarded. A certain other website, which is good for new camera announcements, did some preview shots and compared them to another similar APS-C compact at F2.8 which was announced at Focus. The edge performance of the GR blew that r...

Ricoh on the forum
The Ricoh cameras do seem to be aimed at the keen photographer and have very nice ergonomics in a small package. I have the GXR which is a most interesting unique and versatile system which is much smaller than a DSLR - even a Pentax. I think we are beginning to see some benefits of integrating ...

Being a proud owner of Ricoh GR...
Thanks, guys... One of the reasons why I bought this camera was because of it's snap focus ability, something I liked on the GX200. It has a readout on the side of the screen as to what will be in focus corresponding with the aperture set through to infinity. I will test this out and see if it's...

Being a proud owner of Ricoh GR...
Hey Dr., there is nothing wrong with the low-light focusing. In dim conditions it will use it's aux lamp but it will still focus in about 0.6 secs and it is always accurate.

Ricoh GR review
Ricoh have always had an understated look and the GR series of cameras don't need to prove anything in how they perform, they have always had a tried and trusted following. Even Daido Moriyama uses one... This camera is a no-nonsense image making tool, which it does admirably. I was sold a long t...

Photos of and with the GR...
To be fair, it is a very extreme example in choice of subject. Yes, as I said, I tried to provoke the effect. But it was easier than I thought. With this image I wonder if you would not see some moire even with an AA filter? I did not try this, but surely moiré would not be as prominent as here. ...

GR Musings...
You'd also be back to a multi-lens kit though jules and the GR lens changing isn't the most elegant of systems. The quality is there, but for me the basic lens is the one that hits the spot. The wide adapter lens is just too fiddly and Heath-Robinson.

K3 & waterproof Pentax remote O-RC1?
Sorry, forgot the O-RC1, has three buttons, was thinking of a third party remote that only has two. As you say, the Fn button doesn't seem to do anything but apparently it does do something with certain point-n-shoots (sorry, no idea which ones.) The middle button (the button with the trees on it)...

Discovered the GXR
Since picking up a Ricoh GR in January, I've been really impressed by it. I love the small size and impressive image quality. The little 28mm lens is particularly good. I was suprised to find I like the shooting with the LCD, you can see the effects of different aspect ratios and bw/colour, etc befo...

Discovered the GXR
Yes it's a shame the GXR didn't take off. I'm sure the cost of having to buy a new sensor with every lens put a lot of people off and it's difficult to get past the fact that perfectly good lenses become obsolete with sensor technology. I wouldn't have been particularly interested myself in this sys...

Do You Zoom?
Thanks for the replies, just to round off the thought, do you think the fixed lens compacts are just too restricting, or could you cope with that? My thought was that they were OK, but fell down on focus not being close enough and not being suitable for that just-in-case-something-happens readine...
