I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
The kS1 has a decent sized viewfinder and of course the backward compatible lens. There is a Pentax manual focus aid avilable. You will find an abundance of new and old Pentax lens including manual focus dating back to the 1970 all with focus confirmation in the viefinder as well as focusing in l...

I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
Let’s step back a bit - what reason to go mirrorless? Mostly for reduced size and weight although high frame rate and movie options are also a consideration. For saving weight it seems that you have to go for a smaller sensor like 4/3rds as the size and weight of lenses is directly proportional to t...

I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
Apart from the problem of using a lens on a camera body that it was never designed for. Lens adapters introduce other problems and aren't recommended  See: ..... https://wordpress.lensrentals.com/blog/2013/09/there-is-no-free-lunch-episode-763-lens-adapters/ -- For someone who makes hi...

I'm thinking about buying a mirrorless digital camera, what do you suggest?
I thought we weren’t allowed to discuss other brands here? I’ve had posts removed before because they weren’t about Pentax. Mirrorless (by virtue of shallower mounting distances), are compatible with a huge range of lenses from different brands via adaptors. I find their focus peaking and d...

Pentax K-01, Still relevant in 2019?
Yep, that core content is still very much as relevant and capable today as it always was. Video wise, the K-01 and K-30 were the first of the new video format. It was very capable for the time and introduced new few features over the K-5 etc (but also took away the use of ibis during video too)....

Pentax Q to K adaptors
I've got the genuine Pentax version, had it for a couple of months. It's pricey but very well made. You're right about it allowing use of lenses without an aperture ring. I always use the iris shutter and haven't noticed any effect on battery life. Any effect is probably minimal compared to the powe...

Pentax Q to K adaptors
And it seems that almost any lens can be attached to a Q if you're determined enough! That gets me thinking. I'll be back in a short while.

Is my Q faulty ? Mode Dial help needed.
I keep trying without success to set up the mode dial, after several attempts at trying to understand the manual I went online and thought I'd found some clearer instructions on Pentax Forums which only seem to half work. I set B&W, High Contrast and Aspect Ratio 1:1, and saved to User 1 then che...

Is my Q faulty ? Mode Dial help needed.
Having to change camera menu settings and then save to a user seems a rather odd way of doing it, as you have to set up then change back to your prefered usual shooting mode each time you want to set up a specific user mode, it would have been much better to be able to select a user number and then ...

Don t hold your breath for a Pentax Mirrorless SLR !!
Question: When you enter live view the mirror is pulled up out of the way. Something holds it there for the entire time it is up. (I'm guessing electromagnets). How much strain does this put on the mechanism generally and does constant use of it cause extra wear and tear? There is also a soft whir...
