Not exactly what I would want but I too have thought Pentax had a solid claim to a retro camera. Instead Olympus and Fuji have grabbed that market.
It would be fun to see a camera dedicated to old school manual operation. No AF and no video for the purists. Unfortunately it all starts getting very niche (low sales) but it would be fun.
Pick up an older film camera and it’s a delight for the senses. Cold harsh metal, the smell of the leather cases, very tactile mechanical operation and little of the modern ergonomics with boxy frames, and massive viewfinders with light meters to aid exposure. By comparison all modern dslrs feel quite plastic and disconnected to me.
I’ve heard Pentax and users say they want to feel the fun of crafting an image, rather than electronics do all the work, but I also find that fun disappears quite quickly if I return home and find my camera hasn’t focussed correctly. If features like auto focus abs video etc are included then they need to work as best as they can.
Just found an update on the K3 -111 here,

Not quite the right place to post this, but depressing all the same.
It is an illusion that photos are made with the camera… they are made with the eye, heart and head. Henri Cartier-Bresson
Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.
No AF and no video for the purists.
Never thought I'd read you saying that!

Leica have been doing just that for years with the M series, doesn’t seem to do them any harm.
More concerned that Pentax doesn't seem to offer an entry level DSLR at an affordable price to entice new users who will ultimately be needed to keep the brand afloat.
What sort of price range woudl you consider is "entry level"?

The K70 was and probably still is the best entry DLSR money can buy
There were some incredible sale deals on the k70 camera body ,when Pentax introduced the KP
So a small premium is now being asked of the k70
When I bought my first Pentax body brand new mid 80 ‘s , it was a lot more expensive relatively than today’s price . I can assure you’re good self on that scale.

...No real reason why DSLRs couldn’t do this too in love view/mirrorless mode...
Now that's an interesting possibility...
