Mick in Huntingdon

Hi Join back in January to take advantage of the repair discount offered when sending cameras away for repair etc to JPSS. As the repair was taking along time (my *ist DL had to be sent to France for repair) I brought a K200D ex-display model from eBay. On checking the how many times the shutter...

Mick in Huntingdon

Hi Mick, welocme to the forum. I have a K200D too, bought it as a back up to my Kr but absolutely love it and it gets at least its fair share of use. All the best, Andrew

Hello from Cambridge

Hello from another Cambridgeshire resident. Also a long-time Pentax user. I began with the original Spotmatic, back in 1965! I still have it, but am enjoying the K-x that my wife bought me for Xmas 2010. Still learning. Martin

Hello from Cambridge

Welcome, there seem to be quite a few of us in Cambidgeshire. I am sure you will enjoy the K-r. I borrowed one while my K-5 was being fixed and was quite reluctant to hand it back!

Hello there! A quick introduction and some buying advice

After I said all that, I take it all back. Gonna go down the route of getting a K-01 after all. Fickle, me? Yes.

Privet!

Finally got the guts to put some money into a decent camera. Thought of getting a K5 but then realized I will look stupid with it as I don't know how to use it, so settled on an excellent example of K20D. I'm pretty satisfied with it, however the kit lens that I got with it is really slow and couple...

Privet!

Lots of questions in one forum post! The answers depend to a great extent on your own preferences / budget but I will have a go! I'm sure others more knowledgeable than me can give better advice. - The 'A' lenses would be preferable if you can afford to stretch to them - they are also more sal...

Aleks when you say speed are you refering to apeture( f number)or focus speed? Focus speed is also depedant on camera body not just lens and light conditions Dan

Privet!

I think the weight problem has been confused. You are saying that the DA-L 55-200 is light, but then someone has said the DA 55-300 is heavy. But I would suggest that the DA-L 55-300 isn't! I have bought the DA 55-300 and it is a little heavy to keep steady. But when the light is poor I always us...

Privet!

I would second what Darkskies says about the 55-300mm. I have the DA L 55-300mm and it is very light for what it is and can be used with very little effort for extended periods. It is not poorly made however, only the lack of 'quick shift' focus is any detriment when compared with the DA version. ...

Rob from Newent saying Hi to everyone.

Hi from Rob in Newent, Glos. From k1000,to super A 35mm to fuji 502s its heaven to now have a K5, bought the body only, as I am using all my old lenses and filters to start.28mm,50mm, 75-200, 75-210 +2x +bag full of filters and dedicated flash for the superA that would not work with the superA but ...

Dan from Brighton saying hi plus lens request

Hi david I do have the chinon 50mm 1.7 and it's great. I also have a clubman 28mm 2.8 (quite like that focal length) and a vivitar "A" 28mm f2.8. I really like the manual lenses but im after a fast focus good low light prime for family pics indoors without flash (kids running round etc). The price...

Dan from Brighton saying hi plus lens request

Hi Dan, It may be worth pointing out that a fast lens plus fast kids probably does equal superb shots :-) The wider the aperture the more precise the focussing needs to be. For example, using the 50mm at f/1.7 means that even moving the camera slightly can put the shot out of focus. In household l...

Dan from Brighton saying hi plus lens request

Hi Matt Thanks a lot for the advice. I'm loving the camera and have also had some great pics even at ISo 4000 plus. I've recently been using tav with auto Iso and have been setting shutter speed to give me a blur free photo (1/90 sometimes ok but 1/125 better). That's for a "pose". Moving subjec...

Hello from Surrey

It has taken a bit of time to join this forum although I have been a member of the other one for some years. My first Pentax was a P50 in the 80's which I sold when autofocus was introduced. Since then I have had a variety of cameras both film and digital and my first foray into that was with a 3M...

When is new not new

Traded my old stuff in and I got the K5 + 18-55 kit and also bought a mint M50 f1.7 results with this old lens are very good. My concern is that when I checked my shutter count yesterday 3 days after buying the came...

Newbie in the UK

Hi All, ...so I just got a *ist DL2... How do folks pronounce that, by the way, the *ist bit? I shot some monochrome back in the 80s with a Zenit and later a Spotmatic F. But all that fell by the wayside along with some life changes around 1990. In the 90s I used a 35mm bridge - the original...
