Hello all. Real name is Martin, I am approaching middle age faster than a journalist into a free bar reception, am married with one small and treacherous daughter (bless), and I don't own a Pentax (or Samsung). "What on earth are you doing here?" I hear you cry, but there is an explanation. I ga...

Hi Martin, GX20/K20 as greytop said, Nikon I do know about I had the D80 Nice images and a nightmare to use,The against with the Nikon are the cost of the VR lenses and if like the D80 very cut back on functions, But loads of gimmicks, the D300 is the only one I would consider but look at the price...

Welcome to the fora. Despite my good intentions to replace the kit lens with a DA* 16-50 or the DA 16-45 I found my Mk I kit lens good enough that so far I have decided to invest in glass that did something different, e.g. the 12-24mm zoom. The ability to use all Pentax K-mount lenses back to ...

new K-m owner

Hi, I just went down to Currys to buy a Sony alpha 200 and came away with a Pentax K-m instead! It was the free 50-200 lens and £50 cash-back that did it. I haven't been able to use it yet though as I have a 2gb SD card at work which I can get on Monday. some questions to be going on wit...

New K10 user

Hi all. I've used Pentax since the launch of the ME Super, and have now got a K10D. My previous digital was a Canon 300D, but switched back to Pentax because I had a bag of PK lenses I thought I could use with the K10. So here I am now with a bagful of questions about the K10, which is driving me...

Welcome to the forum. I don't have experience of the k100d super but I can tell you that there is no button to zoom. There is a zoom ring that you twist to zoom. There is also a seperate focus ring that you can use to adjust focus (if not using autofocus) Take a look at to see what the k100d...

Hi and welcome to the Forum. You have to twist or push/pull depending on the lens . The K100D super and 18-55 will be good to get you started. if your buget is really tight you might consider the K100D it will work just as well with the 18-55. The super can use lenses with the SDM focus system but t...

Hi and welcome to the forum. As others have said with a zoom lens you will have a zoom ring to adjust the focal length and a separate focus ring for manual focus (when selected). With regard to memory cards, I tend to use Transcend and SanDisk, Transcend being the less costly. You mention you hav...

Hi Chris and welcome to the forum. :) It seems you've learnt a valuable lesson regarding third party M42 adapters; namely steer clear! I have three adapters, one genuine Pentax which is as smooth as silk and two third party ones which, well, aren't! With the latter two I've removed the small piec...

Hello Reason(s) why i am posting this to a pentax forum is because obviously i am considering a pentax system and second i think there are more pentax users that have used nikon dslrs than nikon users with pentax dslr experiences. Right now i am a D200 owner, however there are a few things whi...

Considering a pentax system

I have owned a Nikon D50,D70s and the D200 before ending up with my Pentax K20D. The reason I sold the D200 was when my first child came along and funds meant I had to end up selling all my Nikon gear. I am now getting back into photography and have gone the Pentax route. Do I regret using ...
