I have a confession to make - I've only just become aware of all the friendly welcome messages left by members, and I'm really embarrassed that I've not responded until now. Well, to put matters right - thank you all for the messages and, since there are at least a couple of folk near me, it would be great to meet up and bore each other witless with our portfolios. Alternatively, we could just sink a few beers and talk nonsense.
Any takers?
P.S. When I find out how to do it, I'll add my location as suggested.

Welcome mate. You'll find the K10 won't let you down. Any questions I will be glad to help out. Beginning with the K10, I have one suggestion to get you started, stick with centre point focusing with these lenses, fully manual settings, and fire away. You'll find in no time that there is nothing complex about this camera.

Howzit and welcome!
Congratulations on your K10D. In my opinion it is a mechanical and optical work of art. I've been using mine since it was launched and I especially like the skin tones in the studio. I know the camera quite well and will gladly help with any questions you have...

Ah ha...The K10D...what a camera....IMHO!.
I bought one back in the spring of 2008 and loved ever bit of it,however,i did something very silly to it and in July of this year I took it back to the place whence it twaz bought and, after getting down on both knees, said "HELP!"
AToT this message,I`ve just got off the phone with LCE as they are being told by their "3rd Party" Repairer that parts are unavailable and furthermore,as an "Off the Shelf" purchase, the K10D is discontinued.
So,advice from a Numptie like me is,enjoy your K10D,I did...but for heaven sake treat it with "kid gloves"
