Latest film images

Hi folks. Just had a batch of film back from the lab. Unfortunately I cannot share the medium format ones here as they were shot on my 1950s Super Ikonta IV (see my pages for those) but I thought I would post some of the 35mm images here. I'll do one or two at a time as I get around to editing ...

Sunrise around the bend

Thanks for all the comments and opinions. I was back there again this morning, same conditions (lucky again!) With my K10D and K200D. Took about 10 more shots but still haven't got "the one". My personal preference is the first but unfortunately the top 3rd of the framing was too bright. The th...

Matterhorn, Zermatt, Switzerland (Colour v/s black & white) Shot on Pentax K-5 ll

Some crazy people have actually made it to the top - and got back down again. Some locations have a reputation or even an aura and this is one such. To me, it demands the mono treatment.

Some crazy people have actually made it to the top - and got back down again. Some locations have a reputation or even an aura and this is one such. To me, it demands the mono treatment. Well my Brother actual did climb the Matterhorn in 1974, here's a slide of him on the summit, apparently the actu...

Another Mix

Purely for interest..... Driving past these the other day....well back in 1996 , originally on film (not sure which camera I had) just copied on to the K1 with macro 100mm DFA WR. These were in Norfolk VA. I have been able to see one of the Carriers was the Enterprise, not sure of the other...

The dream of the dishwashing brush

The Forum has been quite inactive these past few days so I offer this completely OTT composition as a means of getting SOME sort of reaction - good or bad. Needless to say, it is from one of my vintage Meyer Optik 105mm lenses - mounted on a K3ii (for a change). The 'real' dishbrush is visible as...

Keeping warm - edit

If you take a photo if someone, with or without their knowledge, you must get written consent from them befire publishing it on the internet. This only applies if they are recognisable so back of heads are ok as are large crowds i think. There are exceptions but mainly for news reporters etc. I b...

Trying an Old M39 German lens on my 1961 S3

a Fellow Camera Club /FLICKR Mate gave me a German Staeble-Lineogon 35mm f3.5 lens to test as he had given it to a Fellow LEICA owner and it would not Focus -- so i did try it on my 1934 LEICA II and all shots were completely out of Focus -- SO I had the idea to fit it to one of my Asahi Pentax M42...

Trying an Old M39 German lens on my 1961 S3

I remount old lenses regularly for use on my Pentax bodies and I have found that 50mm is about as far as you can go. The front element cannot be retracted inwards sufficiently to achieve focus after that. You have worked a minor miracle to get a 35mm into any sort of focus! Change of topic: One o...

Tea Gardens, Munnar, India.

The saturation of jpegs can be turned down without a quality loss I think. What can't be brought back are the blown out sky and the solid black shadows.

REVISED - Tea Gardens, Munnar, India.

I really don't want to be singled out as the bad guy shooting down others' genuine efforts but I believe that when people ask for feedback they deserve to get very honest results. I hope I'm not coming over as overly critical and if I am then I apologise. I think these have toned down the colour...

REVISED - Tea Gardens, Munnar, India.

Thanks friends, appreciate your nice views and comments. Jonathan - I highly appreciate your very frank feedback on my first set and now on this one. You might have read my opinion on "Reasons for few entries". I strongly believe that the Forum is a place to display, discuss and learn and not just ...

Playing with Old B/W Prints.

For negatives and the money, I would go along with the purchase of that cheap light box. Set you're tripod up pointing downwards onto a stable surface with the negative perfectly flat on the light-box, I use a little weights around the edges to prevent distortion from curl when needed (kitchen ta...

I wanted a solarscope.... Until i saw the prices  it made wee come out!:lol: I'm playing too, sat in the back of my van slowly freezing.... ~ It was a major sacrifice - it being a dual-purpose scope eases the pain somewhat. .

Haworth Steam Shots 1982 part 2.

Lovely set of images. Going back through old negatives and transparencies can turn up some real gems. The Austerity in image 4 is pretty much the same as the one we ran on the Ecclesbourne line last season - coming back into service in April.
