Why Not Upload Your Avatar?
:lol::lol: What an action! Now I have to read the names carefully - I am not sure with whome I am talking. I hope that most of you put back your avatars :) Its much more comfy. To my mind the avatars tell sth about persons as well. And maybe this sth is more important than the outlook ?...

Why Not Upload Your Avatar?
When you see films of the 40's and 50's practically all men wore a hat I was watching such a film a few years back and it was fascinating to count up all the activity in it that was just about hats and coats. In fact it became extremely funny as every scene involved....detectives enter room, remo...

From Fairford it would not have gone over Belvoir - especially at what was possibly as low as 500 feet. Where is the home airfield? From what I understand XH558 is not based at Bruntingthorpe during this season it is based at RAF Brize Norton then possibly back to Bruntingthorpe once the season i...

Traditionally, ships and aircraft are considered to be female. Perhaps early sailors considered them to be their mothers, taking care of them at sea, or something along those lines. In literature going back hundreds of years, ships were "she" and it seems to have carried over to aircraft. I do...

An idea for when using big lenses in showery conditions...
Spad, I have just made a suggestion on the Lake District Meet thread. Why not buy a cheap rain jacket or waterproof trousers (the nylon ones with the elasticated wrists or leg bottoms) from a charity shop cut off a sleeve or leg and then feed the camera and lens down the sleeve or leg until it ju...

How many Pictures
I'm with you Barrie I think. Even in normal circumstances I don't have the time to take that many photos. At the moment when I am struggling to take any photographs at all. I went to the zoo on Monday but I didn't take my camera. I just couldn't face lugging it around. I'm hoping inspiration and ...

How many Pictures
Well Galoot, it's lovely to be mentioned in despatches, but I have to say inspiration works both ways, and when I look at shots of yours from New York or Shetland, or Amin's smoke pics (and smoke and bubbles, and roses and smoke, and droplets in bubbles on roses in smoke...), and the countless...

Blu-ray
Am I the only one with this idea here? :| I was first thinking of burning them on DVD but since they are all raw files that means I need a lot of DVDs and using dual layer would help to shrink the numbers but they are also more expensive and quite close to the price of BD so not really a option I...

Two hard disks is the way to go, in my view. Replace when they start to get unreliable. Disks are very cheap now, and will get cheaper. It's far easier to back-up one hard disk to another than back-up a cupboard full of optical disks. G

Blu-ray
At home we have 2 old desk top machines, two lap tops and a large external hard drive. I manually copy all photo's over to all the machines and external drive. Very low tech and of course if we have a fire everything will be lost. Mind you that's just the same as it has always been with slides and n...

It would be Once every 6 months or even to a year till I've a BD full with photos so internet storage with monthly fee isn't worth the money. Also your storage is in the hands of others so what happends when they will go bankrupt? I'm always sceptical with those things so don't worry, i just don't...

Oh yeah tapes we forgot that one :) Like I said I already use HDD for backup but for some I simply want a third backup on another medium simply to spread risk. Internet simply isn't an option since I regard everything that I put on the web something that can be stolen from me, there are hackers...

Renting Pentax lenses
I asked a similiar question a few weeks back since I could only find Canon or Nikon lenses to rent. Would definitely make use of such a service if it existed.
