My god! Things have really changed...
15 years ago I closed up a camera and photo finishing store due to lack of sales, thanks to K-mart. I then moved from an island community on the US western coast to Sacramento California. It was a terrble transition for me. The beautiful coastal area made selling my photographs a snap. But when I m...

My god! Things have really changed...
Thank you both for your observations. Apropos of your humour, the day after I arrived in London to stay in my friend's house on Cato Street (off Edgeware Road), I went to the pub on the corner. It was recommended by my friend, Robert Cummings who said, in effect, to just mention his name. So I ...

Perhaps Colour, etc., came over in 1066 with the Normans. I doubt they are Anglo-saxon derived. Back to Pentax SLR's. All my film Pentaxes are Spotmatic SP's. I didn't intend it all to end this way, but once I'd accumulated seven M42 Super Takumar lenses it seemed folly to switch over to bayon...

If you sent your camera to Eric, it won't take long to get it back! Could someone tell me, once and for all, in phonetic spelling ( I can forsee all sorts of mayhem) the correct pronunciation of the proper brand name- Brough Superior?

Think I may have found some hot lenses
Over here in the land of the brave we in computer land have what we call "The Craiglist". A free site that you can post items to sale and pick up hookers. Anyway, I'm looking for a 135mm to add to my collection and I ran across this ad that has a few lenses, a tripod, a meter and a few oth...

Help me to choose between MZ3, IST and MX
Hello guys, as this is my first post here I should be polite introducing myself: my name is Nico, I'm 32 and I'm an Italian Pentax User. I have a Z1P camera and a manual MZM that, unfortunately, I destroyed ( ). I used to love the MZM, it was so light and easy to use, even if sometim...

Help me to choose between MZ3, IST and MX
Welcome to the forum Nico. I'm sure that you have researched its replacement carefully and many factors may be involved but If you are considering replacing your deceased MZ-M with another model from the MZ range, you might consider the MZ-6 which I believe is perhaps the most fully featured came...

Help me to choose between MZ3, IST and MX
Pentax seem to have gone overboard with their quest for 'smallness' with the *ist, achieved mostly by reversing the film loading mechanism with the film spool being positioned on the right hand side of the camera as you look at the back. I didn't know that, but it makes sense, and shows Pentax have ...

Help me to choose between MZ3, IST and MX
I have the *ist 35mm and recently bought a ZX-L (MZ-6) to have a second body. I wanted bodies that can control the aperture because of two lenses: the FA J 18-35 and the DA 40mm. The FA J is tremendous value and great fun in 35mm. Brand new, it's going in the US for around $100. This lens is ...

Help me to choose between MZ3, IST and MX
Nico, I just bought an MZ-6 in Livigno for 250 Euro. I couldn't find it anywhere else. Did you buy it yet? If so, did it come with a date back? Mine didn't. I would be interested to know if you found one with or without the date back and how much you paid for it. Thanks.

MX vs ME-F
Here's my dilemma- Since getting back to being a bit more serious, I've shot quite a lot of film through both the MEF and the Leica. My shooting has improved, but I notice that I print more of the MEF shots than Leica. On the other hand, I have recently lost half a roll of Velvia while shootin...

MX vs ME-F
In your position I'd buy an MZ5n. Use it in manual mode, and it will give you focus confirmation and indicate the correct exposure. It's got AF for when you may need it. And it's much newer than the MX and MEF, so should give you longer service. G

Extension Rings

Extension Rings
Hi, Kenko make AF tubes with a Pentax fit, but to be honest, if you are going to be doing any serious macro work, then you will probably find that you'll get more accurate results manually focussing. I've taken shots where the depth of field is less than 1/10 mm, although that's at around 5x mag...
