Pentax Mag Arrived Today
I'm sure the team were badly affected by peter Bargh's illness. Hopefully now he is getting back into things again we won't have a repeat of the mistakes (not that I've seen them yet, maybe tomorrow). Under the circumstances I think they did a great job to get the magazine together and out on time!

Pentax Meet 9th May
I am afraid I will not be able to make either day now. I had a minor surgical procedure on my back last week, and sitting in a car for any length of time will not do it any good. I hope it is a success, and can be repeated when I am fitter. Look forward to seeing the photos.

Not about for a bit
Have a good trip Kris, you'll get back just as I'm off on my 4 weeks in the US. Hopefully I'll be able to occasionally check in while I'm away though. 9 weeks in the summer - business or pleasure?

Old Chestnut
A better question might be, why say it at all? I have a sneaking suspicion that it is an 'in' word, first used to indicate that the user is a 'serious' photographer, and somewhat above the common herd. I never once heard that word in my 35mm days, even when I was at my most earnest. What other wo...

Northern Lights In the Telegraph
I dream of seeing the aurora. Photographing them would be a bonus, but just seeing them would fulfil a lifetime's ambition. A friend of mine has moved back to northern Sweden now so I can see I shall have to visit her sometime.:D

Northern Lights In the Telegraph
Back in 1981 I was working at a timber mill in Oulu, Northern Finland. It was mid December, the sun would stagger above the horizon about 10.30am and be gone again by three, it was at least -20°C, a metre of level snow everywhere, roads of sheet ice so I looked forward to each night hoping to see th...

OT. USB hub question
All back via the PC. Even the USB ports in your PC may be on an internal hub which can slow down the overall transfer rate.

any electronics boffins out there?
Depends on how clever you want to be ... In a logic circuit start with a 10 MHz clock (0.1 micro seconds) Run the photo diode though an amplifier stage ito a latch, so that on triggering it will go to a FIXED state. Use that to initiate a counter that ius running on the 10MHz clock. The ...

any electronics boffins out there?
yep, I have all that Matt, they are all 47s tho', not 50s I went for the .47uF for the time limit. The shop was out of some things - looks like I overlooked the 10uF when I went back. I'm using variable resisters for both 1Ms (due to stock) and the SCRs are CP106D I am making the trigger ci...
