I have looked at all extension tubes and I ended up with the Vivitar semi automatic tubes £40 from Ebay in that they allow you to manually focus at full aperture but auto aperture at what ever you set your f number at you can see a sample here your DOF is critical so try to use F22 or less and a t...

Fujica 35 Auto-M

thanks Brian. I wonder what you think on this additional point. The focus are on this camera is a little gold square and it is very faded. I can just about make out when things are lined up in the box but it does not agree precisely with the distance on the focus ring. So I get it in focus and recko...

Fujica 35 Auto-M

The focusing mechanism on rangefinder cameras can become misaligned, the only thing you can do is take some test shots using a tape measure. Measure the distance from the subject to the focal plane (approx. the back of the camera if it doesn't have a focal plane indicator, a circle with a horizontal...

Not the correct Exif info.

That's why we have a calculator built into windows, mind trying to use it's a challenge! As for exif, check out Optio lens sizes. DSLR lenses that size would show the back of your head in the frame!!!

Short login time

I'm always logged in, and tbh I never leave my browser on this forum for any great length of time. I skim through new posts and read those that grab my attention. Then if I have time I go back and read the rest. I've certainly never left it on PU for an hour or more.

Short login time

The only time I need to log back in is when I log in using another computer. Something is stored on the server as well as locally. If these do not match, you need to log in. I did have a situation where I had to log in every few minutes at the start of the new web site change long ago. You ma...

Short login time

Thank you all for the comments. I have found the solution, I think. Someone mentioned cookie settings, so I went to Temporary Internet Files and deleted my Pentax User cookie, logged in again and selected Remember me on this computer. Now I can close IE7, go back in and I am still logged in to PU...

PENTAX Service, Good or Bad POLL

PENTAX Service, Good or Bad POLL

They (Pentax France) had my K100D Super for nearly 2 weeks last summer. They replaced the sensor (it had weird pixels which were particularly visible on the high ISO photos) and gave the camera a clean. They gave it back with an extra 3-week warranty. So I find the service highly satisfactory, very ...

PENTAX Service, Good or Bad POLL

I had to send my K10d in for repair after I dropped it and the lcd screen was cracked. It eventually got returned to me and had been butchered. A screwdriver of similar implement had been used to prise the body open and had broken a piece on the join. Quality control is obviously not good enough....

Multi-day hiking problem.

Stefan, The problem is how much can you carry being comfortable. My brother once went with 2 rucksacks, one on his back, the other on his chest. It also helped him with a balance (or at least he claimed so). Do you want to have an easy access to the camera? Did you think about a large rucksack (...

Multi-day hiking problem.

My son used to have a rucksack on his back and a small day pack on his front when he went hiking. He travelled all over the UK and Ireland like that, plus through Portugal in the summer heat. I recently saw somewhere a camera bag designed to be carried in front, clipped onto the rucksack straps, bu...

Multi-day hiking problem.

Hi Stefan, I do a fair amount of hiking from one day trips though to 2 week backpacking trips (carrying everything including food). I find that with modern light weight kit I can get everything for a 2 day trip into a 55 litre sack - including tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, food, stove, clo...

Multi-day hiking problem.

Thank you all for your helpfull comments. A bag on your chest doesn't do it for me, it limits you in your movement. To at a bit to Bob advice, the gear would be. The DA40, no excuse not to take it with you. DFA 100 with 2x tc, my most used lens can't do with out it. The flashgun. Then I also...

Multi-day hiking problem.

Simon, the bag might be excellent but it's to small for my use, I really need atleast 50liter and that's without any camera gear, so 65 or 75 liter are the bags I'm looking at. Lowe has a special system for your back which seems to give the most freedom of movement, that's something what is import...
