processing yous photos?

Back in the old days, shooting slides was seen as the " purest form" of photography. But even then you had the possibility to predict the outcome. Bold saturated colours? Use Velvia. Subdued pastel like colours. Take Ektachrome. You had to do it perfect within camera. On the other hand, all the nega...

processing yous photos?

Rather than spend a few minutes on each photo I tend to leave the vast majority exactly as shot (in RAW) and just concentrate on the odd one, on which I may spend several hours. The ratio is quite large, probably somewhere in the region of one shot in several hundred actually has time lavished on i...

Postage times from USA

My book finally arrived on Saturday, so there is still hope! It was delivered by a private mail company. They are a right pain here in NL as they only seems to deliver when it suits them not on a regular basis. A lot of post from the UK seems to be handled by them nowadays too - Private Eye tends...

Be careful with PayPal though! I hadn't used ebay for trading for a month or so before Christmas. Somehow some piece of *!%$ manage to get into my PP account and go onto ebay and spend £968 on a debit card that I had registered on there and then TRY to spend £15,000 on my business credit card. Protect yourself on ebay & paypal...some tips.

Hi, Just seen the scam on ebay with Samsung cameras, here are some tips to avoid problems with ebay & paypal: 1. Always use credit card or paypal. 2. NEVER rely on paypal to protect you. Much of the talk of 'buyer protction' is nonsense. There are many, many buyers who have NOT had any payp...

Best way to review a bunch of photos taken

I just go through them in PSE's organiser and decide which ones I like the best. I never pixel peep. I go of my own gut feeling about a photo and even if the atmosphere of the photo is right but it isn't tack sharp I will still edit it. Even with several seemingly similar photos one usually stands o...

Best way to review a bunch of photos taken

I click all the tabs away in LR so that you have only the photo and simply use the arrows to move back and forward, basicly thte same as with a slideshow. The best thing in doing it in LR is that you can simply move you mouse to the right so that you see the tab with the histogram where you can see ...

Samsung to get closer to Pentax.

The 23% rise in Nikon UK sales was year on year on a volume basis and barely effected by the exchange rate which happened towards the end of 2008. AP's figures not mine. Samsung seem to have failed with the GX20, they supplied fancy display cases to dealers and put big new signs up on the shopfro...

Macro tubes how to

Extension tubes allow a lens to focus more closely to the subject. You would normally use them with a non-macro lens. As for using one with a macro lens, see http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=extension+tubes+with+macro+lens&meta=&aq=f&oq= I have a similar set of tubes to that cheap eBay one....

Macro tubes how to

It also says that a 52mm extension tube performs like a 105mm macro lens when using a 50mm lens. How would this differ from using a x2 teleconverter on a 50mm lens? I also don't have a lot of knowledge in this but so far as I know they wont work like a TC they simply able you to focus closer, they do...

Macro tubes how to

wonderfull shots Martin, with some postproceesing you can come close to Tel photo so keep trying. The noise can be easly remove by a noise reduction program, Neat Image and Topaz are the big boys in that I believe. For your lens problem, why don't you use the 2x teleconverter it will make a 100m...
