Whats your Failure Rate of SD cards?

We haven't had any fail so far. Sometimes one fails to read in a device, but formatting has always solved that and it has always been possible to get the files. The first one the Kingston failed to write after 6 dng files tried to reformat etc, put it in Traceys K100D same thing. The Sandisk failed ...

Whats your Failure Rate of SD cards?

Some thing I have yet to experience but have cards that are over 8 years old and they are still fine, mind you 8 years ago they cost a flipping fortune so I expected them to last and that includes the one that is only 32MB and came with my first digital camera, you don’t get many RAW on that. :D ...

Whats your Failure Rate of SD cards?
f the card fail and doesn't work the recovery software wont do much good then. The software is there so that you can recover images that you accidently deleted I believe, not to give back life to a broken card.Too bad isn't it :(
Hi stefan i didn,t mean give life to a broken card ...

Whats your Failure Rate of SD cards?

What are your findings on the SD cards. I have had 4 x 2Gb Sandisk Extreme III cards for about 2yrs. Zero failures, rapidly closing in on 12000 frames. I consciously try to make sure the imgs have finished writing to the card b4 switching off the camera, usually putting the lens cap ba...

Whats your Failure Rate of SD cards?

I use premium brands, primarily SanDisk but Lexar, Panasonic and Kingston too. Both CF and SD and have never had a card fail. As mentioned when used thousands of times they can wear out but in photography that is unlikely. There are a lot of fake SanDisk cards around - are you really sure it ...

Whats your Failure Rate of SD cards?

I have taken the Sandisk one to bits and the second chip was not stuck to the printed circuit on one side (might be a fake), as for the Kingston thats going back as it's only 6 weeks old.:P

I can Post on the forum!

Welcome back :D If Pentax don't offer what you want and Nikon do then go for it. I don't understand why people get upset when others want to move on to something else, after all a camera is just a tool, it doesn't matter what it says on the front. What are you wanting from a new model anyway?

Hi John, It really looks like Pentax wants to "be interesting" as per the new company logo, and will produce an EVIL (electronic viewfinder) highly specd camera... to follow the K20. I'm not taking this as gospel, but according to interview with Gabrielle Remmers (Marketing bod) Pentax are not ...

As regards Pentax’s medium-format plans, she admits that their “priorities are clearly on products that address a broader audience”, adding that “as a comparatively small manufacturer, we have to allocate our resources according to business priorities”, which effectively means that the development o...

:D Agree on the PR/Website etc. But in general I do like the Pentax design philosophy. Nathan, I had a good look at the D300, and considered the same as you. This is what I gleaned: 1. RAW IQ is actually more or less the same as far as I can tell 2. Metering is probably better on the Nikon. ...

Interesting little topic, and as somebody who moved from Pentax to Nikon last year, I'll give my two pence worth! I moved from a K10d/K20d combo to a D200, and now have a D90/D300 combo... I'll limit my comparison between the K20d/D300 though. I'll use MattMatic's list as a starter!! ...

Ebay sniping tools

The point I was making was not directed at anyone in particular, more of a generalised comment. eBay certainly seems to be contentious as an issue, but in the end it does afford us the mechanism to sell to a very very wide audience, and to buy things that would otherwise be almost impossible to f...

Ebay sniping tools

Yes, the way funds are frozen and potentially taken back is a difficulty. It's particularly galling when the trouble is caused by zero feedback buyers who either have no clue what they are doing, or are very clever and want something for nothing and know how to get it. Still it doesn't stop me fr...

Too many similar insect and bird pictures.

We do seem to be having a bird phase but I am sure it'll pass when Scott has a picture of every bird ever to grace the shores of this fair Isle. Well, his back garden anyway. These things come and go. Post some photos, start a trend!
