I bought a new k200D in Jan, this year. Went to Europe - pictures were very dark and needed much software surgery. Camera went in for service. Went back to Europe in July. Flash wasn't working properly. Camera is back in for service. I sent a letter asking for a member of management to contact me. No contact. I sent a follow-up email. No contact. Two of my friends just bought new DSLRs. After talking to me, one bough a Cannon, the other bought a Nikon. I think mine should be replaced; however, they insist on repairing. I'd like to trade it in for a better one, but, they won't respond.

The service you get depends on the place you purchased it from, it is still under warrantee then the shop you bought it from should be fighting your corner, if they are not I would want to know why, you should not have to be dealing with Pentax only with the place who took your money.

If it is any consolation there are bad shops everywhere and it does not matter what you bought if it goes wrong then they should sort it be it Pentax or any other make.

Personally in the 40+ years I have had Pentax I have never had a problem.

I have had no problems with any Pentax product I baught. I had the mirrors replaced on my ME, but that was long after the warrenty had run out. I ended up paying 25 quid. for the repair. Instead of no comment as an option, it should have neen not needed.

The only thing I have had repaired which wasn't clearly my fault was my 50-135mm lens. It took over two months. I haven't yet seen the lens to assess the quality of the repair.

All my other repairs have been done 3rd party by people like Harrow Technical.

Lots of film bodies, a couple of digital ones, too many lenses (mainly older glass) and a Horseman LE 5x4.

Never had need to use the service. When I ordered my K10 I had to wait 3 months for delivery. There was no UK stock, but SRS eventually got a delivery and delivered. I think at the time the marketing was in front of the production. I hope that Mean Time To Failure is going to be in excess of five years. My Pentax Prog.A has never had to be repaired and is still going strong.
