Bye!
I'll pop back once in a while to see if Pentax User has relented (and seen sense), ... Well Adobe made a similar ‘improvement’ to their forums awhile back and fortunately quickly reverted back to the old format - so there is always hope sense will prevail here too.

I hope you can all be patient enough to wait and see what happens next? This is a really good community with a great spirit and it's better kept together. I'm sure the dissatisfactions have been heard loud and clearso can we see what the response is today and beyond? Remember the dreadful change ...

Bye!
I'll be off over to http://www.pentaxforums.com now then. I'll have to buy a flame-retardant suit and a good pair of ear defenders and forget about posting anymore, but I simply cannot abide this monstrosity (and I really don't much like the other forums at all). I'll pop back once in a while to ...

I don't see much point in asking for features when it's as simple as it gets. Visit http://vbulletin.com and implement it. Such software has been developed over time to the pinnacle of its type. It's been developed by people who actually use the software. Why on earth are PU attempting to re-invent ...

Actually i'm the one who referred to you all as Luddites, not Peter. I accept that the forum has faults and problems, but I found the general outcry that things had changed ridiculous when most of you had not taken the time to explore the new site, or see how things developed. PHPBB3 would be a bet...

Bye!
To leave the forum after less than a day of the new format seems a bit extreme and very sad. Maybe if we were to get back to discussing Pentax and photography rather than the forum things would be better here. Erm. This is exactly my point. I can't, because the thing is broken in the extreme. I've a...

It wouldn't be the same here without everyone still being around, so hopefully we'll all recover enough very soon to relax back into our rather special community. There are still some minor bugs, but the answer is to Make a Report and the Team will pick that up and action it very quickly. 8)

vintage smc pentax-a 1:1.7 50 mm help!
"SMC Pentax-A 1:1.7 50mm" is the lens, not the camera! There should be a marking on the camera body, e.g. "ME Super", "Super A", "MX", etc. Obviously, you need to manually rewind the film. There should be a small button underneath the camera - push this in, flip out the rewind lever and rotate i...

Which section are you uploading to? Martin. I was trying to get into the "Gallery" and "JR competition". I went back and tried again and lo and behold it worked.:) But I'm not really sure what I did. Howard

Should we revert to the old forum until the new one is fully fixed and tested?
The question says it. I think that there is still a lot to do to make this thing work properly. No doubt it CAN be fixed, with quite a lot of work, but it is possible that upon reflection the powers that be will decide that a different approach is called for, and integrate the new site with a tr...

Easy, go back to the one that worked. Implement a new one if needed from established software, but bin this one.

Should we revert to the old forum until the new one is fully fixed and tested?
I'd go back to the old one for now, but use vBulletin or phpBB3 instead for the new one. I run a dance forum using vBulletin (not even the current version), and it works just fine. And the people that run PentaxForums.com have made a pretty good job of the site there, which also uses vBulletin. ...

Should we revert to the old forum until the new one is fully fixed and tested?
I moderate several forums and am a member of dozens. They all use mainstream software that works, is reliable and is secure - especially some of the largest forums on the web, so scalability is no issue at all. Since they're all MySQL back-ends it's trivial to integrate into any website/shopping sys...

new gallery for competitions
I think a bit of "slack" this time whilst we all get to grips with the new look and any glitches. Hopefully after this week and after we've seen how my test comp works we'll know where we are and can get back to normal.

Hey Clarky!
Hey Clarky, I'm a little further along in my video project (tough to find time, it's wedding season for me)... got some music I wrote and some sound effects. just need a good "Screamer" and the end clip for my cooking show is done. Do you think it's good? there's a scene or two in the show don...

Hey Clarky!
Hilarious  You need the scream put in just as you pull back the curtain, but it needs to be a chicken type scream :? Begeeeeeerrrreeek  Is it my imagination, or do Australian chicken sound different than Canadian chicken?

Cameras we respect?
Kodak Brownie, Zenit E, Praktica LTL5, Petri 7 Rangefinder (I still have it and it still works - totally mechanical, not a battery to be found), Pentax Super-A, Pentax *istD, Pentax K10D. Pentax K20D hopefully to be added to my list shortly. The Canon-A1 spec influenced my decision to buy the Sup...
