You could have done all this integration using standard available forum software very simply. They're designed to be modular and adapting an existing database to use them is technically trivial. There's simply no need to re-invent the wheel and take a huge leap back in time. For those that hate t...

I'm from a publishing background, unlike many of the designers/editors of web sites, so I believe from my experience I know a thing or two. Like using red italic text?? Large areas of red text is bad design, making it italic makes it worse. yes there an optimum reading width, but computer w...

That's a bit rich, considering the contempt we've been shown. Not really it's the shop scenario...go back with something that's faulty and rant and you're likely to get no where, go back and say politely that the item doesn't work and you'd like some action and you're likely to get great service. ...

Jeez!! I hope some of you are happy people in real life, can't believe adults can be be so negative, some of the posts directed at Pete and his crew are bloody awful, we get in here for nothing, yes nothing!! I'm sure, as we have already seen, that Pete and David etc will work (and quickly) with ...

Also, it shows as 'edited' instantly, rather than after a delay. This was better on the previous site, since you could edit a post to fix a typo if you were quick, and it wouldn't show. Only if you edited your post after another post had been added did it say 'edited by etc'. This was a goo...

Its a green box now and if you click on it, it takes you directly to that new post. But it only takes you to the LAST post of the whole thread. The phpBB took you to the NEXT post that you hadn't read ;) As I mentioned, that's quite a difference when you come back after a week to find that a thr...

Well, I must admit, had a long old session on the PM's and most of my anger has been displaced, with some sense of normality returning. Almost everything I pointed out has been actioned, and the list was getting longer! Still some issues though, still cannot just jump to the last read post in a t...

good grief, I'm out of the picture for 2 weeks and the world ends! Yeah, that's what I thought. You spend 5 weeks at sea and when you come back the world (or at least important parts of your world) have changed beyond recognition. I also thought to first wait a few days before making any judgemen...

I'm really glad things have calmed down here somewhat, I didn't log in for a day or so cos the whole atmosphere was doing my head in, but it seems to be heading back to it's usual, generally content, self again. Well done all for sticking with it, and well done the PU team for working very hard t...

P.S. Just noticed a bug...:lol: If you add a smiley after you've typed out your message, it always inserts it at the end of the message, no matter where you've placed your cursor. Off to report it now! It always did that for me, so no change there then... And you are right, the hea...

Help! Trying to use the new forum search to find a thread from a few months back, but compared with the old search, the new one seems to be pants. Although it does allow some of the so-called advanced options, it doesn't give me the results I want, and there's no "show as posts" option. I've ...

John will cut me some slack, he said We're all learning this week, so I've not been too worried about the 800 pixels. Anyway, it was interesting to see what would happen to images that were too big. It seems they don't necessarily post very well, overlapping the ads for example. So it loks like 800 ...

I'm having a dialogue with the support team via their reporting system, trying to persuade them to re-implement the rules we had before regarding editing posts. Basically IIRC they were these: - if your post was the last one on the thread, you could edit for a very long time with no 'edited by...

Would like it the way it was also. However, in the meantime, we'll just have to keep on asking John and Matt to edit them for us. Once we've all done that a few times (sorry John and Matt ;) ) then they can demand the 'edit post' option back again, and have a very good reason why it should be th...
