Most Pentax lenses will function Ok on your camera. A lenses are manual focus. FA lenses are autofocus AL means a lens has aspheric elements FAJ lenses have no aperture ring and so are not a good choice for you. All the above lenses are variations of the K mount.

Murphys laws on Photography
I like Murphy's law. I'm the only person I know that murphy's law actually works for me! Murphy's law implies that if an airplane falls out of the sky and all but one passenger perish, the sole survivor, will be the one poor wretch whose life was so pathetic as to not be woth living. The one that ...

disassembling the lens of pentax optio s30
Hmmmm. I would strongly advise against disassembling the lens :( (I am an electronics engineer with some experience and wouldn't try it!) However, you should see a small black worm-drive type screw. From what I can remember it is near the bottom of the camera, at the front. It provides the fo...

A successful day.
Hi all, yesterday I had my first proper "job" with the DL. A ninth birthday party for a friends grand-daughter. I took along Mrs Liam as my assistant. I'm not gettig paid, except for a few beer tokens, but I treated it as a paid job, to get some practice in. It highlighted a few sho...

Konica Minolta and the future of Pentax
Aside from a perverse and thankfully minor desire to see how perplexed some people might become at the notion of my not choosing a Canon or Nikon (the oddness of people amuses me) and of course aside from the fact that it fared more than decently in a serious review, the major thing that made me dec...

Konica Minolta and the future of Pentax
Golfdiesel - one of the first manufacturers (AFAIK) to support AdobeDNG is Samsung. With the combined efforts of Pentax and Samsung, I'm seriously hoping that DNG is on the firmware wish list... that is DNG with Huffman encoding which losslessly compresses the RAW data (but you need a bit of proces...

Konica Minolta and the future of Pentax
Matt: I am going to Focus and will visit the Introfoto stand but cannot pass on your message as I couldn't understand a word of it, all about Huffman coding and such; if you could get it translated maybe I could help! Peter.

Macro shots
I've seen some great macro shots in other threads and thought I'd start a new thread on that subject. Here's what I got when I reverse mounted a 50mm 1.4 to my istds2 mounted 85mm soft focus. Also rigged up my af080c ringflash to it. It's a 1974 canadian penny.

Macro shots
12 mm, and sharp center and fuzzy edges is what the 85mm soft focus lens does....

Macro shots
Yes of course, I missed the fact that the 85mm was soft focus. Cab I ask how you fixed your ring flash to the mount end of the reversed 85mm ? I know that there is a special ring light adapter, and I've tried to make something similar without success so far. Or did you use the tried and trusted d...

Macro shots
By the way...I know that there are dust spots, lint, and flaws in the image, but I find that when I'm experimenting, I tend to focus on concepts and ideas. The purpose is to learn and practise. When it comes to making salable images I've often said "The Devil's in the details..." If I w...

Focus on Imaging 2006
Regardless of Focus, I did have it in mind that we should have a "get-together" at some point, maybe in the summer. I'm thinking about what sort of event that could be, but it seems a good idea in principle.
