Hello,

Thanks to all who replied to my original message I am very grateful for your responses.

Before doing anything, try formatting the memory card! The new WG2 does look excellent though.
I will try another SD card in the camera to see if the fault re-occurs.I didn't think of doing that Doh!

I originally bought the A630 because it had a viewfinder. Coming from a film camera background I prefer looking thorough the viewfinder and I suppose it helps to keep the camera steady as well thus eliminating camera shake.

I will take a look at the W90 / WG range at a local camera store if replacing the SD card doesn't work.

After looking on the net I noticed the Pentax RZ10 range which has shake reduction built in and it has a decent zoom range.

I will also go to the DPREVIEW website and will draw up a short list to look at in a local camera shop.

Best Regards,

Paul

Hello,

First may I apologise for the following 'C' swear word appearing on here!

My very first Digital camera was a Canon A630 which I used before buying a K10D three years ago. I use the A630 for general photography when out on my Bike and for work related images.

Recently I have noticed a few strange things happening such as the first images appearing as 'Unidentified Images' when viewed. The image appears okay when viewed as a small thumb nail along with other images. However, when I click the preview image to view the full image a message appears stating 'Unidentified Image' another strange happening is that when viewed alongside other images as a thumb nail one image appears correctly exposed but when i click on preview the image appears to be a multi-exposure image with the right hand section of the image appearing on the left hand side and a totally different image appearing across the top of the image!

So my question is this, does my camera have gremlins, is it time to stop using it and if so what Pentax Compact Camera would you advise I get to take out with me whilst riding my Mountain Bike?

Hello,

I have seen a couple of second hand Sigma 150-500mm lenses for sale recently and wondered if it was worth paying approx £150 more just to have OS built into the lens?

If the camera has built in image stabilization and I'm most likely to use the lens on a monopod/tripod is is worth me spending £150 more?

I'd like to thank you both for responding to my post.

I must admit I have not heard of Red Snapper before! So thanks for advising me about them!

The videos on the Giottos website were very informative, so I think out goes my Calumet Pan/Tilt head and in comes a restrictive ball head.

Best Wishes,

Paul

I've been thinking of buying another tripod head for my Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod which I have had for a few years. I originally bought the Tripod from Calumet along with a basic pan/tilt Calumet head.

Which make/model/type of tripod head would you suggest I purchase for use with my K10D.

I intend to use it with my Macro lens, 500mm Mirror lens and hopefully a 400mm f/5.6 Sigma lens to undertake bird and insect photography.

My budget is around £100ish.

I was planning to go on the Sunday which will probably be the busiest with it being the opening day. Unfortunately I can't get time off work during the week so I'll just have to put up with the crowds!

Hello - I encountered the same problem with extension tubes.

Like other people I found out the hard way by using a set of auto extension tubes with a kit lens on my K10D. I couldn't adjust the aperture and hence all exposures were vastly long due to the lens being set at f/22.

I then bought an old PK-A lens to use on the extension tubes. For a few years I kept looking on auction websites and was out bidded. This year however I was more successful and managed to buy a set of Jessops extension tubes with electronic contacts for around £45.

Thanks to help from other members on here, I was advised to modify the set by scratching off a small section of paint to imitate the missing contact. Now I can use them with any of my lenses.

So these extension tubes are out there, I remember seeing used versions on the Mifsuds website a few times for around £135. So keep looking and you may be as lucky as I was.

Hello,

I was thinking of attending the Focus on Imagine exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham in March.

After performing a search of the listed trade stands I noticed Pentax are not listed as attending.

I am looking to expand my Lens Range and I'm also interested in getting an alternative tripod head. Do you think it would be worth my while attending to see what is out there?

Also, are the lenses (Sigma, Tamron etc) and tripod heads that are on sale on the day at the various retailers going to be any cheaper than if I buy via mail order?

Best Regards,

Paul
