Hello,

I have just rejoined after a short period offline.

As regards Harrow Technical I have used them twice and i have been very impressed with their service.

I have sent two lens for repair, the first was my Pentax 100mm f3.5 AF Macro lens when the aperture got stuck somehow. I think something happened when I tried attaching it to a cheap set of manual extension rings. Anyway they managed to sort the problem and I have not had anything happen to the lens since.

The other lens i had repaired was my 400mm MF Sigma lens. One of the internal elements was totally covered in little tiny dots (a fungus) so every photo i took with it appeared blurred. they stripped it down chemically cleaned the lens element and now its fully functional.

So I have no hesitation in recommending them myself. I have not used anyone else so can't comment for other companies.

Hello,

Could someone please advise me what the differences are between slide film and negatives.

The reason I ask is I want to know if it is possible to get old negatives converted into slides? If it is where is the best place to send them to to get converted.

Best Regards,

Paul

Hello and thank you for responding to my enquiry. With the amounts of negatives I have collected over the years it would probably cost me a fair amount of money to get them scanned in at a photo developer.

I've been looking on auction sites and noticed the Nikon and Minolta film scanners are selling at around £180. I noticed Jessops stocking a Plustek film scanner at about £185 so I might just pop down to Jessops in Manchester to have a look soon.

Best Regards,

Paul

Hello,

I have been going through my vast collection of old 35mm Negatives which are stored in boxes and in negative storage folders and wondered what the best option would be to get them converted into digital format to be viewed on screen and possibly be projected at my local camera club.

Would I be better off taking several sets of Negatives to my high street photo developer who offer this sort of service or would you suggest that I buy a Negative scanner?

If I go for the Negative scanner option, can you suggest any reasonably priced film scanners?

Best Regards,

Paul

Hello,

I live close to the Medlock Valley and have noticed on a few occasions what looks like an Owl in the trees behind where I live.

I noticed it earlier this week at about 11:30PM.

How would I go about trying to take a photograph of the Owl in such awkward conditions?

Best Regards,

Paul
