there are a couple of great camera shops in Edinburgh, one is Calumet. There is also Calumet in Glasgow which is 40 seconds off the M8, can't really see what your problem is.
I have no problem Ken - If I want a camera I buy on line from source that is very reliable. My last purchase was to replace the dead Nikon D700 with a Pentax K-50 twin zoom kit. Before the demise of Jessops I would have shopped at my local branch. The OP was asking the question..I am quite content with shopping via Internet.

There were no camera shops in my hometown until Jessops opened a store. There was one in Edinburgh at Shandwick place, been there years along with Edinburgh Cameras on Lothian Road and Cameramatics in Morningside that I was aware of, latterly Jacobs opened - now there is Cameramatics, I think Calumet are now in place as well. I canny blame Jessops for shutting my local shops down. I got good service and deals in my branch of Jessops, others may have different experiences.

Yesterday I decided I needed a bigger camera bag, problem is I live in the Stoke on trent area and found out rather quickly I had the great choice of Currys or argos to buy one from.

Now I live slap bang in the middle of the country and yes I could travel 50 miles in any direction but its a Saturday and I have better things to do then spend hours in the car for a simple purchase of a new bag.

Yes I can order online, but with something like a bag I have found to my cost that you do need to see it in person to see if its fit for use.

What has happened to all the camera shops I can remember a time when they were everywhere, I thought I would just share my despair of having to plan weeks in advance of making a photography related purchase.
They all died out due to internet shopping, rising cost of doing business, lack of local support etc. I loved my local Jessops, yes prices might have been higher, but I took that as part of having a local store and getting better service when if things went wrong. Nearest Jessops is now Glasgow, the majority of camera shops in Edinburgh have shut down over the years, like you I'm forced to use online, I refuse to buy a camera from Curry's/Argos.

Funny enough creative blogs did an article on the top 10 alternatives to photoshop see Here I stopped using PS, CS and PSE as my main editor, much prefer Lightroom. I find Lightroom suits my work flow better, but may not be for others.

Hi Walter - does it mean you were Pentax user before your Nikon DS700 adventure?
Yes oh and it was the D700 I did not notice the typo, I'll not buy another Nikon DSLR. I was up until 2009 the changed as I could not get superzoom lens for Pentax. Thankfully now I can and did

Hi Dariusz, hope you enjoy using your new camera, I recently returned the Pentax users after my Nikon DS700 got wet from rain and died. Bought a Pentax K-50 twin lens kit and a K-5 II, very pleased with the results.

I spotted this tree growing in Crotia and liked the look of it for a potential "selective colour" B&W image. I'd welcome comments on both the approach and the result!

I think that the coloured leaf is lost in the shot. Whilst colour popping can be used to good effect by drawing the viewers eye to the popped element, in this case the B&W tree trunk still draws the viewers eye away from the smaller new growth leaf. Nice sharp image, and good clean pop.

Not something I have tried. However, I have taken aircraft shots and still fail to get one as good as your Spitfire shot re propeller blur. I'm not sure on angle shots that is personal choice, it does seem to work. I like your shots as they convey movement and speed whilst being clear and colourful

I'd like to thank you all for your comments and feedback. I am aware of the feeling re watermarks and views on the subject, however, having had considerable problems in the past where my images were used without permission on sites I'm sticking with my current system. As John says that is a topic for another forum. I just wanted to share my pleasure on using the K-50 in place of my usual full frame camera. I would never have taken my old K10D on this shoot. To find that a camera that Ricoh-Pentax has designated as a beginner level unit just shows how well the K serious has come on. I believe that these are just as good as the output from the Nikon if not better. Once again my thanks fro you comments and feedback.
kindest regards
Walter
