A couple of rarities in those pictures!
A female RN Captain - and in full mess dress. Secondly a black* Drum Major in a Scottish regiment.
*And NO I am not being racist but pointing out the rarity.

Not sure it is a Scottish regiment at all. I don't recognise anything in the uniform. Loads of other ex-empire countries have army pipe bands

Clearly a very capable camera. nice shots and lovely colours.
Spoiled by the hideous watermark though. distracting

These are very nice shots from the K-50, although if they were mine I would want a bit more brightness in the first two.
As usual, the watermark spoils them - "hideous" is an apt description. As is sadly often the case these days, a word has entered into common usage by repeatedly misusing it. Originally a watermark was an effect created to be invisible in normal viewing. Now they are not only visible but prominent.

I like the images too, and yes the colours are shown beautifully.
What is the real fear of those who put these 'watermarks' on their shots in this context? Is it a real possiblilty that someone might copy them and make illegal commercial gains? My uploaded images are compressed to less then 2mb file size - this would limit their reproduction potential surely?

2MB is a huge file for upload. Less than 400K is more than enough.

1000px on the longest edge averages out at about 550kb on K-5 files, depending on the image content. I don't think there's much point in uploading anything larger as it just get compressed anyway and takes longer to upload. At least if you set the size to this first you can control the compression yourself.2MB is a huge file for upload. Less than 400K is more than enough.
BTW, I also like the images posted by the OP, they could be a little brighter but the colours and everything else are good. The K50 is clearly very good.

I used to specifically set 1mb for all files, then had a few that showed banding on the skies (only on these reduced versions). When I increased the files to about 2mb the banding was gone, and I tended to just round up. I gave advice to another member recently to try increasing the file size to remove banding that had appeared in his images (they were those ones of the South Downs) but I don't remember if he ever got back and said if it had worked?
Never had any issue with upload speeds though. But what about the potential for them to be reused - at what size does an image become at risk of reproduction after copying from a webpage?

2MB will produce a printable image, but we digress from the OP's thread, so this is for another thread if you want to pursue it.
Meanwhile, the images posted here are very good indeed, with nice realistic colours and no sense of them being overdone. An excellent start.
