Isn't it just the way. Didn't have my camera gear with me on the way home tonight when to my surprise a fish cycled past me at the traffic lights.

Tend to agree Mark. I believe it was set up to make people going through the digital transition behave more in a set ISO mode.
With the availability of the ISO button it does seem somewhat redundant. But I would also like to hear from people that use it as a benefit.

There is a new building locally that is an eye sore. But I am quite willing to wait, and wait, and wait until it becomes derelict.
Also would it be acceptable to go into a derelict building and replaster, repair, and rewire it? (Pointless question..... just like the one that started this thread)
