Really struggling to get the exposure right when shooting (not literally!!) my liver and white Springer on a sunny day.The liver colours seem fine but the white bits are blown......how do I overcome this? This is exactly as it came out of the camera apart from a bit of a crop!

I just got the K-S2 at the weekend. Upgraded from the K10D. Love the feel of it especially for a lady with particularly small hands!! It's much lighter and seems much more user friendly than my old one. Love the retractable lens, fits in a small bag nicely. Haven't done too much with it yet but initial reaction is it's great.
Following on from other comments I guess I must count myself as lucky as our local camera store is a Pentax super dealer so have loads of kit to try out......I'm a bit like a kid in a sweet shop when I go in there!!

I've been a Pentax user for a few years now but somehow lost enthusiasm for photography. My husband, in a bid to get me interested again (in photography that is!!) bought me the new K-S2. Having previously had the K-10D it's a bit different but I'm getting used to it, however, I may be asking some questions so bear with me!

Not really a new member more of a returning member. I haven't been around for several months, due to work and home committments. I have now given up the day job to concentrate on llama farming and breeding pygmy goats, as well as looking after our holiday cottage - When did I ever have the time to go out to work as well. Perhaps that explains the lack of participation over the last few months! I hopw I will have more time to go out and about with my camera. I love to be outdoors so do mainly landscapes and of course have very willing subjects in the animals. I'm also trying to get to grips with macro. So any help anyone can offer is always gratefully received.

Thanks for the speedy response.
@Hyram - Those pictures are amazing - I'm sure it's not just the lens that did that tho' !!
@Kris - the Tamron as you say is ok in some circumstances but in areas of high contrast you get the PF - it has served it's purpose though, it has proven that I WILL use the versatility of the lens.
@Mike - P - thanks will take a look at the Sigma but am due to test the Pentax tomorrow, my local shop has got a demo one in for me to try and the price they have quoted is only £80 more than I have found it on the web, so am more than happy to spend the extra for the privilege of being able to try it out against the Tamron in the shop. Excellent service again from J&A Cameras in Barnstaple.
Thanks all
Vicki

Have been looking at this lens and am about to test drive - does anyone have experience of using it. Anything I should watch out for?? I had been looking at the 300mm but decided that I probably needed more versatility, it's to replace the Tamron 70-300 which has dreadful purple fringing.
Any advice would be gratefully received
Vicki

I currently have a Pentax K10D and have a Tamron 70-300 mm, and I get dreadful purple fringeing in high contrast situations. I appreciate it is a budget lens but wanted an entry level lens to make sure that I would get the use out of it, I now know that I will so am looking to upgrade and have been looking at the DA300 Pentax lens. Does anyone else use that lens and if so what is it like, or does anyone have any better suggestions. I have seen it for sale at around £800 is that a good price?
Hope someone can offer me some advice or help
Vicki

@ Alun, Glad it worked for you, I have booked it too, so see you there, bright eyed and bushy tailed. Hope it's not raining, it can be pretty miserable at Hartland in the rain!!
