Actually Stan what's proposed is more like the weekly, only you take your image while the comp is running, that's all.

But the devil is in the details eg. winner picks next subject or second place or third place., how long before the subject is set by whoever and a week could be lost while waiting to see what the subject is so it becomes a 3 week competition. In theory, practice and theory are the same. In practice they seldom are.

It's all starting to sound very complicated. I'll wait until the dust settles ( and my photography improves ) I will still do the weekly when I get what I think is an image within the context of the set subject.

We will get the chance to see a Torch Bearer live running through our village I think I'll just watch it on TV. One good thing, they are mending the potholes in the road and slaping paint on baorded up schools etc

Just clicked on an advert on the right had side of the forum page: Pentax at Comet, where I thought Ah, there may be a bargain to be had. Alas after looking through 9 pages, Pentax were not to be found

I have just started entering the competitions, weekly is easy to enter, fortnightly a little more involved, but you have two weeks to come up with something that matches the requirement of subject! My biggest fear is ever winning one then having to set a subject and judge

I agree with everyone, and I'm hoping, with the "red button" on Sky, I'll get to see some events I have a shred of interest in instead of some people running around in a big circle as fast as they can again and again and again etc. I'm sure some of the utube videos will be classics too

I don't think it would make much difference which camera Dr O was using. He obviously has an eye for spotting a good shot, as have many other members of this forum, but posts such as this show what the camera is capable of more so than a magazine review.
