Thanks David, I have one of those large bright yellow spirit levels which I was going to lay across a couple of tressels, put the camera on a tripod and level as accurately as possible and take a couple of snaps. I'll wait for a nice calm day though. If the electronic one is turned off are those levels you can pop in the flash holder any good.? Perhaps I'd be better avoiding landscape/seascapes too

There are lies, damn lies, and magazine reviews.
when asked 99 people out of a 100 said
"They would rather dog food"

"Than have their finger nails pulled out"

when the truth was 5% actually didn't know

K-5 is fab, but watch out for the electronic level issues; mine was fine for 6 months then the level went way off and caused issues with images (if this happens, make sure you turn off the automatic horizon adjustment in the menu). Other than that, the K-5 is a superb piece of kit and I had withdrawal symptoms when mine had to go back to SRS to get the level fixed.
What is the best way to test for this problem. Sometimes to me the camera just doesn't look "right" sitting on a tripod even if the horizon looks ok through the view finder.

A friend had one of those "Blame Direct" people phone him and ask if he'd had an accident. He told them yes he had fallen down stairs at a neighbours house while carrying a television. They yes he would definitely have a claim so he said great but would the fact he was stealing the tv at the time go against him. they said oh! and hung up

I used to have a racing snail, it wasn't going fast enough so I took its shell off but that just made it even more sluggish

Proper French snails for the first time...
I had escargot for the first time in Paris this year. I won't go into the full effect they had on me but it does remind me why I never (never, ever, ever) eat molluscs!
I've always considered the first French person who picked up a snail and thought, "I wonder what this tastes like?", to be either a hero/heroine or slightly insane or drunk, or perhaps a mixture of all three

Excellent shots the first 2 Stan.#3 is not too shabby either, just been oversharpened I think.

But be honest. Did you take these or was it my little red shooting buddy
I was hoping Barrie would have a spare K5 "Red" could use to take a snap of us taking a snap of him , I wasn't sure if "Red" would be able to cope with a gripped K7 so just left it at home

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments

I think insurance companies are tightening up. We have an ongoing claim for storm damage to the studio roof in January. They said the damage was only caused because the roof was old and in poor repair. I provided receipts for maintenance and repairs going back three years showing diligence on my part but they now say that just proves the roof was in a poor state. Catch 22.
Has anyone ever had a trouble free, straight forward experience when dealing with an insurance company. I have once, camera accidental damage, sorted out with a telephone call

I have heard some horror stories after the recent flooding.
