OK and thank you for not shouting at me

I must really have a proper look at this program as it seems a lot of the members whose work I admire use it.

Not at all. I don't have Flickr and I'm one of those whose brain closes down after opening LR up. I was determined to get to grips with it and downloaded the trial Ver 4 but it just slowed my computer down so much I uninstalled it. Found out later there was a cache setting to set that may have helped with that. I can import and export ok but on exporting I have to type in where I want the output stored and I soon got fed up with that.
If I import from a directory I'd like to export to the same directory with perhaps the option of a new folder, not have to browse to where I want to be each time. am sure it's a very good program, it is reassuringly expensive Now I await the How To ( for 3.x )

To answer Smeggypants original question, in my case not a lot

Register then...Just upload them

In principle a good idea . But who will choose the final photographs and organise the printing and distribution etc.
One thing the camera club I'm a member of does, is to choose a local good cause and instead of buying each other Christmas cards we are asked to make a donation I'm sure other clubs must do something similar.

Absolutely and you'll love the feeling of euphoria when you get a placing
