Thanks Mark and Gareth, I may get some Sandisk Extreme as see if I notice the difference.

I have recently started using a technique I got from another photographer of shooting on hi-speed burst when shooting portraits in natural light, shooting 4 or 5 shots at a time.

Unfortunately I quite often get to the point when the internal buffer is full and I have to wait 20 seconds or so for things to catch up again.

What is the best memory card to use with a K-5 that can reduce the 'catch-up' time? I obviously don't want to pay for a faster memory card if I find I get no benefit.

I filled over 40GB of cards in just over 5 hours yesterday on a natural light shoot, so I'm in need of some new cards

Shoot people, there are infinite possibilities, and you won't get fed up!

Although I would say that

While I have quite a bit of experience with natural light, and can get by with studio flash, I fancy trying my hand with outdoor fill-in flash as I have seen some great images with it and I know there are quite a few experts on this subject on this forum.

Kit: I have a Samsung SEF-36PZF which I picked up cheap when they were discontinued, which I believe is a clone of the well respected Pentax AF 360FGZ. I also have a very old Metx 45 CT-3 which someone gave me (as well as the wotsit to reduce the trigger voltage to connecct it to the hotshoe). I also have a brolly.

A few questions:
1.) Is this kit sufficient, or do I need to buy something else? If so what?
2.) What is the best way to trigger the SEF-36PZF remotely, and which mode should I use?
3.) What is the best tutorial on pairing the body with the SEF-36PZF, as I tend to forget after trying it each time.

All help most appreciated.

Thank you everyone for all the good wishes.

@Stevef - I didn't do an LRPS, by the time I thought about doing a distinction I think my images had become quite specialised and the LRPS usually requires a variety of subject matter, so I skipped straight to the ARPS, risky but it paid off and made me work harder.

@Dodge69 - I don't think it really matters about which camera you have, it's all about technique and knowing how to get the best out of your camera and lenses, and IMHO a lot more Pentax users bother with that side of it than users of other brands, saying that I think my Pentax is more user friendly than other cameras.

Thank you everyone, it's good to have a forum like this where I can display images and get useful comments, and I like seeing the images of other members as well and seeing their photography progress.

Pentaxophile I know you meant that jokingly, but I do get asked that quite regularly. I had someone who came up to me at the camera club and told me he had a 5D MKII and a set of L series lenses and asked how I achieved my image quality in my prints as he couldn't match it and he was thinking of changing kit, he was not impressed when I said I used a Pentax

The next most common question is "oh you use Pentax, is that a Canon or a Nikon?"

Now that mountain has been climbed I need to find another one!

On Wednesday 12th October I put forward a panel of images for an Associateship of the Royal Photographic Society (ARPS) and I passed

I didn't attend the assessment, instead spending a great morning taking photographs with Andrew (bwlchmawr) who very kindly showed me one of his locations, thank you Andrew.

You can see my panel here (contains nudity).

You may recognise quite a few of the images from my gallery here on PU, so a big thank you to all those who commented on my images and provided me with some feedback.

I would highly recommend any of the photographic distinctions from the various photographic institutions to anybody who feels they need some direction to their photography.

Welcome Dave, and no question is stupid.

I don't have such a lens, but I do know what there are a number of manufacturers producing one including Tamron and Sigma.

My message was not meant to be patronising but to be humorous/ironic (hence the smilies), and apologies for anyone who found it such.
It was simply meant to say we should all take more images, and get less hung up on equipment.

Now I know why I don't post on forums much
