Many Thanks for your reply and observations much noted.This afternoon was a pleasure to use the K-r andfor me these are the best I have done so far.,still a long long way to go yet though.it is purely relaxation for me.Have changed the camera fron Pef to Dng as you suggested, but still cannot fathom out the actual focal length of the 18-55, will play with elements and try to improve them Thaks for your help Regards Terry

As previous conversation, just arrived back from Dartmoor [ not the Prison?/] Took these with my K-r and the kit lens and "NO AUTO".it was on AV as most of you suggested,.Do not go easy on me I can take it and hope to learn.K-r was set to Raw+ Jpeg and PEF, but I cannot open the PEF files in Elements 6 or anything, Jpeg no problem. None of these photos have been altered and come straight from the camera.Finally this lens is 18-55mm but not the same on a 35mcamera , what changes???

On Dartmoor this weekend and taking the K-r with the kit lens .could you give me a starting point please ie { NO Auto or Program,] use AV--set. Very disappointed with my K-r results. Names Terry [78yrs].Have been using this camera for about 6 months now mostly on Auto or P as I have very little knowledge of the other modes , and I am very disappointed at the results I get, compared to my Canon Powershot G9 which are brilliant ,could i be missing something with the K-r in the set up or is it just not up to the task please, all the photos seem mundane and devoid of colour , nothing stands out to think " that was good " as on the G9,before I make a decision on trading in for a Nikon or Canon, which 90% seem to go for, is there something I can try please ,any info much appreciated Kindest Regards Terry

I do not know if this is any help to you but i have a SIGMA 70-300mm APO Macro which you might find to replace a Tamron , used twice [ to heavy for me [78yrs old "Knackered HI] please let me know what you think and the cost of your lens with postage, hope we can sort something out Regards Terry
