A big thank you to both of you 👍

I'm not expecting a huge amount, and they have said that I can have a pitch-side advertising board and an advert in the program for free. But, I would rather payment.

Let's wait and see 😁

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask for opinions, etc, but my local town are in the Welsh Premier Football League and I’m about to start discussions to be their official photographer for the upcoming season (I've done a few jobs for them recently and taken match photos over the last few years).
I’ve got a meeting with the chairman soon to discuss the finer details such as payment options, and I'm looking for a bit of advice beforehand.
I was thinking of mentioning two price lists, one for being freelance ‘as and when needed’ and a different one if I am to be ‘employed’.
I’d rather the ‘employed’ option as it would mean regular work.
But, this opens up a few different questions, ie, copyright (I’d like to retain it, but if I’m employed as the official photographer then I might not) and how many images I supply to them. But, the biggest question is how much to charge...?
I’ll almost certainly include social media versions for the club as well as high res versions for them to use (for advertising, match programmes, etc). Plus I’ll email the best pics to the local paper and the Welsh Premier for their website.
Any opinions and thoughts greatly appreciated, thanks 😁

Thanks for all the input - still no closer to making my mind up!

There is another which I've thought about and that's the BlackBerry Playbook (I have a BlackBerry phone). The original reviews were not great, but I like the fact that it will sync with my phone & just become a larger version of it.

BUT...can I put a micro SD card of pics just taken into my phone and view them on the Playbook?

I wont be using a tablet for editing images (I'll use my MacBook for that), just to display them, etc.

I've just completed a Christmas portrait of 7 children (for the grandparents' present) and one of the children was very reluctant to join in the pic (crying, stroppy, etc). The other 6 were very photogenic, but they naturally wanted a shot of all 7 children.
The clients were resigned to the fact that we'd only get 6 children in when the 7th decided to take part - Hooray! But, he wouldn't get right in with the others and just stood on the periphery. He's in a couple of shots, but too far away from the others to make a nice portrait.

Foolishly I said, "It's okay, as I can move him over later using Photoshop!"

I spent a long time doing PP and I think next time I won't be volunteering my Photoshop services - I'll just agree that he won't be in the pic!

This is why I prefer sports photography - the action just happens and you record it then and there.

Has anyone else had experiences of extra PP for someone else that you've brought upon yourself.

I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but which tablet is better for the photographer - ipad or Samsung Note?

I wont be using it for photo editing, but more as a display method for clients, etc.

I like the ipad because I've got a macbook and they'll sync using icloud, etc. But, I don't keep my pics on my laptop - I back them up (twice) asap onto removable hard drives.

I like the Samsung because it has removable storage (micro SD slot) and I can plug a camera card directly into it to display pics immediately.

Can you view, edit and create Word documents using them?

I'm erring on the side of the Samsung and was just wondering how others with experience of these feel.

Thanks in advance,

The Kellyboy.

My first camera was an old film Pentax & my first DSLR was a Samsung GX10. I bought the GX10 (mainly) because my dad shot with Pentax and had lots of lenses readily available for me to use & it was cheaper than the K10d. But, I was also persuaded by the build quality, weather sealing and general reviews that I read on-line. I've since upgraded to a K7 and now a K5.

I've used all three cameras to shoot weddings, sport, landscapes and portraits. Each one I've owned is significantly better than the previous one - the K5 being a superb camera.

Like David (above) I also like being in the DSLR minority. I enjoy getting (sometime sneering) looks of "What camera is that - a Pentax?" from other people, especially when on a paid gig.

It always make me chuckle when I see people sporting their mid/entry level Canikons plus kit lens as though they've got the best camera gear ever, naturally with the obligatory neck strap on full view. I know that my K5 simply blows it out of the water!

I'm taking pics at The Blue Lagoon, Abereiddy, Pembrokeshire. It's the Red Bull Cliff Diving. I'll put some pics on here later tomorrow!

I can't wait!

I used to find removing the cards from my K5 very tricky until..I started shooting with Micro SD Cards.

I leave the adapter in the camera and slot the Micro SD card into a card reader (usually with an adapter already there).

It makes life easier PLUS I can put the card straight into my phone to transfer / email pics straight away.

I took some pics recently at a bike race and was chatting with the "official" photographer - he was a nice guy, too.

Anyway, he suggested that I could sell some of my pics through his website - great idea! BUT, he wants copyright of the images (I will still be able to use them for my own promotions, etc).

My dilemma is this - it's unlikely that I'll sell any through my own website, but I don't want to give up copyright!

Also, Ironman Wales is happening in my neck of the woods in September and endurapix.com have also said something similar (via LinkedIn).

I don't know what deal I'll get for giving up copyright, but it needs to be a good one!

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
